John “Kevin” Coughlin, age 61, passed away on December 27, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. Born October 18, 1958 in Bayonne N.J. to John and Catherine Coughlin. He is survived by one sister, Theresa Lash, residing in Parrish, FL and 2 nephews, Skylar Lash, residing in Boston and Dakota Lash residing in Philadelphia, as well as many cousins, distant relatives, and “casts” of close friends and acquaintances.
Kevin excelled in the theatre, with singing, dancing, acting and eventually becoming a music director producing Broadway style musical shows. At the early age of 15 performed with the Weide Modern Dance Company as well as LOOM (Light Opera of Manhattan) for 4 seasons.
Kevin was proud to be an Equity Member for many years.
Moving to South Florida Kevin continued his career as a Church Musical Director, which he began at an early age at an all Catholic Girls High School in New Jersey, and brought his many talents to St. Maurice Catholic Church in Ft. Lauderdale where for over 20+ years created and brought a new dimension to the liturgy and fundraising musical shows, as well as building a very special choir that excelled musically as well as spiritually, through his love and guidance.
Kevin was a caring mentor to so many as he shared his talent and life experiences…his kindness along with his passion for the theatre and steadfastness in what he believed, this and his creative ability to expand an individual’s potential, this along with Kevin being a very special person that touched so many, will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in Kevin’s name to a charity of your choosing, would be greatly appreciated.
Memorial Service will take place on Friday, January 10th, from 4:00-7:00 PM with Tribute of a Lifetime Service at 5:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.

Kevin had an amazing talent and shared his love of music, dance and theatre with many of us fortunate enough to know and/or be directed by him. I just can't seem to find the words to describe how much he touched my soul and the love I felt for him. While his loss is huge, I sense that he's already directing a choir of Angels who are thrilled to have his presence. "And I will raise him up on eagle's wings…." Soar with the eagles, Kevin. You will forever be missed.

Cousin Kevin will be deeply missed. You could always count on Kevin's Christmas card being the first one you received every year, right after Thanksgiving. God bless you Kevin, rest in peace.
Love you,

I went to St. Vincent De Paul grammar school and Marist High School with Kevin. I had the privilege of being in a couple of high school plays with Kevin. He was a very talented actor and singer. My condolences to his family and friends. May you find peace in the days ahead.
