Lorinda Thornton Williams, 93, was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Feb. 4, 2018. Lorinda was born in Madison, AL Oct. 24, 1924. After attending Auburn University she relocated to Montgomery, AL where she met her future husband, Hilbert “Bill” Williams (Major, USAF). They married May 16, 1952 in Madison. The couple deployed to England where their son Griffith was born. After Bill’s retirement from the USAF, they moved to Tallahassee, FL where twin daughters Lisa and Lynne were born. After Bill graduated from FSU the family settled in Hollywood, FL. Lorinda resided in the same home in Hollywood for 52 years, developing treasured friendships with neighbors Nancy Bray, Phyllis Briglio, Barbara Schultz, Jeannie Standish and Rose Battisti. Lorinda dedicated her life to serving her Lord and her family, providing unending, loving support to her children. Preceded in death by husband, Bill, parents Herbert and Frances Lorinda and sisters Frances Bryant, Nancy Cooper and Elizabeth Watkins. Left to celebrate her life are son Griffith Williams (Barrie), daughters Lisa Leavy (Jonathan), Lynne Mitchem (Ronald), brother William Thornton (Joann), grandchildren Jennifer Williams, Craig, Chad and Christy Curtiss, Lisa Falci, Jennifer Leavy and great-granddaughter Brittaney Yost, along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Special thanks to “Earth Angel” Monique St. Aime, VITAS employees Lorna and Angie and the staff at The Court at Palm-Aire in Pompano Beach, FL for their care and support. A memorial service will be held Friday, Feb. 9, 2018 at 12:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Hollywood Chapel 6400 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood, FL 33024. A reception there will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association, VITAS or your favorite charity.
