With full hearts, the family of Carole Anne Duerr announces her passing on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the age of 79. She died in her Pembroke Pines, Florida home of 45 years, after a difficult struggle with cancer. She was born on July 12, 1938 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to Arthur Minton and to Elinor McGrevin Minton, who also passed away March 23rd, 30 years earlier. Carole attended Langley High School in Sheridan (PA) with her younger brother, Gary.
At age 15 she met her first boyfriend and future husband, Donald, while working at a movie theater. In their 60 years together, they raised 3 children, attended art shows, founded and ran Airport Recycling Specialists, and traveled to all 50 states and over a dozen countries. Carole served almost 20 years as a Secretary and Office Manager for St. Boniface Church in Pembroke Pines. She had a sparkling personality and an uncommon elegance, which she also expressed in her creations of fashion jewelry, award-winning macrame, needlepoint, culinary delights and gardening.
She was able to attend a celebration of her life on March 10, 2018, accompanied by her family and close friends. She is survived by her devoted husband, Don, her daughter, Kathleen Snow (Ben), her two sons, Jeff Duerr and Andy Duerr (Rebecca), her 12 grandchildren — Elya van Kley (Dan), Benjamin Snow, Rebecca Fahey (Trevor), Joel Duerr, Samuel Snow (Lily), Sadie Snow Klonel, Nathaniel Snow, Jonathan Snow, Haillie Duerr, Olivia Duerr, Ava Duerr and Micah Duerr — and her 2 great grandchildren, Ariana Fahey and Esther van Kley. She is also survived by many dear friends and a community that will miss her.
Donations in memory of Carole may be made to the American Cancer Society and St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be held at a future date.
