Hilda S. Gato, a long time resident of Pembroke Pines, passed away peacefully in the morning of Thursday, April 4, 2019, just a few days short of her 91st birthday.
She was born in La Havana, Cuba, on April 20, 1928. She relocated with her parents to Spain when she was just a small child and spend most of her teenage years there. Once she grew up, she moved back to Cuba before finally relocating to south Florida which she made her final home.
Hilda was a well-prepared woman. She graduated high school, she then completed an Associate’s degree and worked for many years as a telephone operator for a telecommunications company. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesus Gato and Vicente Fraguela. Survived by her sister, Pilar C. Gato; brother, Jesus Luis Gato; niece, Ingrid S. Gottlieb; and her dear friend whom she loved like a sister, Migdalia Alapont and her husband Luis.
Funeral Mass took place on Wednesday, April 10th, 11:00 a.m. at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. An urn committal service will be held at a later date at Lauderdale Memorial Park Cemetery.
