Mrs. Muirhead, I am sure you are well aware how much your husband will be missed. He touched many students hearts during the time he was a substitute at McArthur High School. He was a great man and will never be forgotten. My prayers are with you and your family.

Mr Muirhead was a wonderful and caring man. I always looked forward to him being my sub at McArthur High school. Whenever I walked into class and saw his face I knew that it was going to be a fun day. I sure wish I could attend the services and I send my love to Mrs. Muirhead. He will always be in my heart.

Mr. Muirhead was a very kind and warm person. He was not only the best sub ever, but he was always so sweet when he saw us at Publix or BCC. We appreciate all he did for the students and community. He will be missed!!

I could not imagine high school or life without Mr. Muirhead. Herbert was an inspirational, loving and selfless being. He only cared for others. Mr. Muirhead had a huge impact on my life. He showed and taught me more than any education anyone could ever receive. He brought humor, honesty and hope to many students of McArthur. He gave us a gift and service probably no other teacher or person could ever provide. I have always missed him since my graduation. He has been in my heart and will continue to be, all the way to end. With dedication and respect, my condolences to one of the most beloved human beings that I have ever encountered in my life.

As a student at McArthur from 1996 to 2000, I can attest, like so many others, that Herbert Muirhead was a class act you find once in a lifetime throughout your academic life. He truly brightened my days at McArthur.
Mr. Muirhead was a longtime employee of Pan Am and also one of the first City Councilmen in Pembroke Pines. Mr. Muirhead truly believed in service, and he continued that tradition of service on to his later years by giving of himself to the Broward County School System.
Being in tallahassee finishing up my law degree, I would occasionally think to myself “too bad they don’t have substitute teachers in law school like Mr. Muirhead.” I could imagine Mr. Muirhead in front of my torts property class going “Ok guys do whatever work you got.” He had a very laid back style to substitute teaching. But he cared about the students and would engage them one on one. I only hope that there are more individuals, who in their later life, decide to give themselves in the service of education.
Psalm 67 says “May God be merciful and bless us. May his face shine with favor upon us.” I pray that the face of God shines upon Mr. Muirhead and his family.

I would like to say sorry for your loss. Mr.muirhead was a kind and funny man. It was not that long ago that I ran into him at pembroke commons plaza where I was working at the time. I had not seen him since my days at McArthur and i was really happy to see him. I remember when i was in the 10th grade and he used to tell me all sorts of stories about his childhood and raising his children. He also told me about how he was once mayor of hollywood and i thought that was cool. I’ll never for get you Mr. Muirhead.

I have many special memories of “Rusty” Muirhead. He was my neighbor in Pembroke Pines for many years and he is considered a member of the Whatley family. Whether he was at one of our birthday parties or supporting us in things we did he was always there for us. He also did so much for the community. He ran races for great causes and dressed up as a vampire to encourage people to donate blood at blood drives. He was also Vice-Mayor of Pembroke Pines. He will always be remembered as the best Substitute Teacher that McArthur has ever had. Many people have been touched by his beautiful spirit, charm, and sense of humor. The impact he made on the students of McArthur High School and the community will not be forgotten. Rusty will be greatly missed.

It’s not often that a substitute teacher connects with students the way Mr. Muirhead did. I for one will miss his sense of humor the most!
He was kind enough to sign my yearbook on my last day of McArthur back in 1995 and, although I wish the circumstances were different, I’m honored to now sign his guest book. I was glad to know you, Mr. Muirhead.

Mr. Muirhead was the best substitute teacher any student could ever hope for and he treated you like a friend and not just some random kid. I also remember seeing him all the time in the plaza where I work. Mr. Muirhead was one of those rare individuals that would brighten up your day just by being in their presence.
My condolences go out to everyone; friends, family, and the students at McArthur High School past and present, who have had the privilege of having someone like Mr. Muirhead in their lives. He will be greatly missed.
