January 22, 1997~April 21, 2018

PFC Nicolas James Freitas Hazelton, 21, of Cooper City, was a loving son, brother, cousin, student, soccer player, referee, musician, artist, video game addict, and most recently a warrior. Born in Providence, RI but raised in Cooper City he was a graduate of Cooper City High School and went to Daniel Webster College in Nashua, NH for a year and returned home to earn an Associates Degree at Broward College. He then decided to cut short his studies to serve this country and challenged himself in the greatest way possible by joining the US Marines, and considered his success in the marines as his greatest accomplishment. He planned on completing his degree during and after his military service. He is survived by parents, Andrew Leonard Hazelton and Silvania A. Hazelton; sister, Adriana Kathleen Hazelton; brother, Felipe A. Hazelton; paternal grandparents, James Hazelton and Tereza Hazelton; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins throughout the United States, Canada and Brazil, plus teammates, bandmates, friends, his brothers in the marine force, and his long time girlfriend, Sarah Sultzer, whom he was dedicated. He was taken from us tragically but during his short life he made an impact on so many people. He will always be remembered with love. Visitation will take place on Thursday, April 26, 2018, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM with a Tribute to his life at 7:30 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel. Funeral Mass will be on Friday, April 27, 10:00 AM at St. Mark Catholic Church, immediately followed by Military Funeral Honors. In lieu of flowers, family would like donations be made in Nicolas memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, www.woundedwarriorproject.org

My Dear Nicholas,
I am just finding this page 5 years after your death. Your untimely passing was such an incredible shock to our entire family especially your beloved Sarah. Know that you are still thought of and missed. Today Sarah and I heard I Hope You’re Happy by Blue October and I told her it was a message from you. We will continue to paint rocks and place them for strangers to find. I think you taught us all that it important to enjoy life and pay it forward. Someday Im going to ride the Dueling Dragons at Universal Studios and I will save the front seat for you.
Semper Fi Sir. I hope you knew that we were proud of you.
Love
The Sultzer Family All
