Eunice Vail

July 19, 1920~September 22, 2018

Eunice Vail was born July 19, 1920 in Detroit, Michigan and passed away peacefully on September 22, 2018.  Eunice was predeceased by her husband, Bernard.  She is survived by two children, Carol Lux and John Gardner (Linda), sister Beverly Knight, 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Eunice lived in South Florida for many years and worked for The Keyes Company and was recognized many times as a top sales associate and instructor.  At age 65, Eunice obtained her scuba diving certification.  She loved spending time in the Florida Keys, and in the Redlands, with her children, grandchildren, and the horses and ponies she purchased for them.

Eunice later retired to Palm Springs, California with her husband Barney, where she participated in archeologist digs and went on many challenging hikes including Devils Slide Trail.  She also volunteered as a park ranger on Mt. San Jacinto in Palm Springs.

Eunice returned to Florida in 2009 to live with her son and family. For the last year and a half, Eunice’s final home was at Continual Care Facility in Pembroke Pines and her family is grateful for the care and love she received.

Always stylish and fully accessorized, Eunice lived her life to the fullest.  In many ways, she was a woman ahead of her time.  She loved animals and had a special gift for training dogs and cats.  She loved driving cross-country with her daughter Carol every year, watching the clouds, being outdoors, swimming, crossword puzzles, jewelry, coffee, cookies, and cocktails.  Her family will celebrate her life and share memories for many years to come.

Linda and John my heart goes out to you at this difficult time. Even though she was blessed with many years, when the final time comes it is not easy to say good-bye. May your hearts be filled with happy memories of all of the good times with Eunice. Our love lives on forever. Marti

Uncle John and Linda, Thanks for providing good care for Grandma the past nine years. Thanks, also, for the nice write up about Grandma. I have many fond memories of riding horses around the Redlands and am grateful for the part Grandma played in making that a possibility. John, Linda and Mom, May you experience God’s peace as you remember your mother.
