Dewett Henry Dickson AKA Sonny or Son was a very dedicated, honest, loving and respectable husband, father and grandfather. He was born on September 25, 1931 in Kingston Jamaica to father Dewett Henry Dickson and mother Louise Dickson-Mignott (Mamalou). He attended Excelsior High School in St. Andrew, Jamaica where he earned his high school diploma.
He went to Liverpool, England in 1960 and spent some years there. While in England he worked for Highways England building the M62 motorway which stretches the breadth of the UK connecting Liverpool with Hull. He returned to Jamaica in 1963 and then migrated to the USA where he lived in Miramar and worked for Aventura hospital until he retired.
Daddy loved his family and he always prioritized family needs before his own. I remember when we were in Jamaica he would come and visit us for the weekend just because he wanted to spend quality time with his family. I remember he would take us all to the beach and drive us all around Jamaica.
My father was hardworking and strong. From I can remember he was always working two or more jobs at a time. He taught us that through hard work, anything is possible. Daddy could never just be idle. I remember after he retired, he always found something to do. He took up a gardening hobby, taking care of flowers. He would water those flowers all the time. To see his plants flourish from his love and patience, would bring him such joy.
Daddy was also a good provider. He would made sure that his family was taken care of first, before taking care of himself. No matter how hard I try to put into words, his exemplary qualities, the sacrifices he made for his family, I will never fully be able to describe the loving and caring person that we all knew.
Daddy was a good man and a man of integrity. He touched each of us in some way. He loved us and we love him dearly. He will be missed deeply, and he will live in our hearts forever. I thank you all for being here to celebrate his life.
In closing, he’s survived by his wife Havis Dickson, 6 children, 3 stepchildren and 12 grandchildren and 2 brothers and nieces and nephews.

I can still remember Mr Dickson walking down the street after telling us as youths to be careful and reminding Tyrone his son to his home work from school.
