Larry Freeman

September 20, 1949~August 14, 2004

Larry Freeman has a long standing history serving his country and it’s citizens. He was the Chief of Police in Bal Harbour from 1995 until 2002. Chief Freeman also served in the United States Marine Corps from 1969 through 1973. He began his law enforcement career with Hialeah Police Department in 1974, where he worked until 1988. During that time, Cheif Freeman served in a variety of units including uniform patrol, civil forfeitures, and accident investigations. Chief Freeman joined the Bal Harbour Police Department in 1989, serving in both uniform patrol and investigations.
Cheif Freeman’s tenure as head of the Bal Harbour Police Dept. was marked by remarkably low crime rates, the Department’s recognition as an accredited law enforcement agency, and a period in the history of the Agency which saw no officer turnover.
After the Memorial Service there will be a reception for family and friends at the Bal Harbour Beach Club, 10201 Collins Ave in Bal Harbour. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Larry. Call 800-873-6983 or www.stjude.org
