Dr. Jack D. Prutsman passed away on June 4, 2005. His clients included Motorola, the Broward County Schools and the Fort Lauderdale News-Sun Sentinel.
He graduated from Troy High School in Troy, Pennsylvania six months ahead of schedule, in January 1944, and volunteered for military service. Before entering the Army Air Corps, he enrolled in a special six month advanced placement program at Lehigh University. He served as a B-24 navigator in the XIX Tactical Air Command under General Patton’s Third Army during the closing months of World War II in Europe and was stationed in Germany briefly following the war’s end.
He earned his undergraduate degree in Education from Mansfield State College in 1949 and was teaching high school in his hometown when called back to active military duty in 1950, the time in the Air Force. During a 30-year Air Force career, Dr. Prutsman’s more notable assignments included serving as an accredited training for Scott Air Force Base, and as one of the pioneering researchers and software developers for the Air Force’s first global airlift command and control computer software.
Dr. Prutsman is survived by his wife Pat of West Hollywood, sons Jeff and John Prutsman both of Longwood, Florida, step-daughter Barbara of Chapel Hill, NC, stepsons Buddy of Las Vegas and Billy of Hallandale, 7 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, his brother Dr. Thomas Prutsman of Troy, PA and sister; Sally Shaw of Venice, FL. A Memorial Service and Tributes of a Lifetime will be held Tuesday at 6:00 PM at Boyd’s Family Funeral Homes in Hollywood.
From his earliest days hunting and fishing as a young boy in northern Pennsylvania, Canada and Florida, Jack loved the outdoors, and the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the World Wildlife Fund worldwildlife.org.
