Oliva, James Frank, 88, of Pembroke Pines and Brooklyn, New York passed away Sunday, November 22. James was a true Brooklynite, born and raised in Brooklyn he and his twin brother, Frank, also loved baseball. James was invited to tryout for the Brooklyn Dodger in 1941 but was drafted into the Army. He proudly served his country from 1941 – 1946, Coproral James F. Oliva, Battery B 564th Field Artillery, 71st Division. He and his family resided in Brooklyn, mear blocks from the VFW post 3230, where he was Post Quatermaster and enjoyed the comradery of other veterans. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Oliva, 2 children; Linda Lombardi, Chris, Robert Oliva, 1 brother, Frank James Oliva, and 3 grandchildren; Stephen, Matthew and Michael. Friends may visit from 2-4 & 6-9 PM, Sunday at Boyd-Panciera Douglas Rd. Chapel. There will be a Prayer Service at 6:30, Sunday at the funeral home. Also there will be a Tributes of a Lifetime, the same day. Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM, Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at South Florida National Cemetery with the United States Army Honor Guard soluting James at 1:30 PM.
