Dear Mr. and Mrs. Lampart,
I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of your beautiful daughter, Leigh. I wish I could offer words to relieve your pain, yet cannot imagine any remotely appropriate. Losing a child is the most difficult of life experiences; thus, words of true comfort are largely unattainable.
Although I was never fortunate to meet Leigh in person, I was touched by her earnest warmth and infectious zeal through her special friendship with my daughter, Hannah. Despite being outgoing and sociable, Hannah has been otherwise careful about those she considers friends. Leigh was one of her very best.
Our daily discussions always began or ended with vivid descriptions of sleepovers and baking parties to Club Penguin
and Nintendo DS games, all which she shared uniquely with Leigh. My most recent memory was the cupcake enterprise she and Leigh proposed, precociously named, “Ooh La La.”
If nothing else, I will forever be touched by the phone call Hannah and I received last Christmas, which tenderly began, “Hello, Mr. Hairston…” Never before had I encountered a child more gracious, personable, and respectful. I had hoped to meet Leigh and your family when I visited Weston last spring, but was unable to attend the party she and Hannah held June 5.
I know how much your family will miss Leigh’s courage and enthusiasm. I encourage you to celebrate her tenacious spirit in days ahead. As you remain in my thoughts and prayers, may God bless and comfort you and your family during this time and always.
Sincerely,
Michael A. Hairston

Dear Lampart Family,
Leigh brought a ray of sunshine into every room she entered. Her bravery, determination and spark taught all of us some very beautiful and important lessons. Leigh is an inspiration to ALL that had the privilege of knowing her. I am grateful that I had that opportunity. If there is anything that will make this any easier, it is knowing that Leigh is smiling down on you all from Heaven. I am sure she is directing things up there right now.
Love Always, Meryl Jefferson

Our little Leigh calls me “Auntie Isabel”…. Since she was 5 or 6 she reprimanded and taught me that saying “Oh My God” was wrong. And I asked her why… she explained that I should not take the Name of The Lord in vain…. Not only it was cute, it was TRUE ! Leigh made me feel so much respect for her, for her belief and faith…. She has left me a legacy….
Short has been her life, but eternal will be her presence among us….
I love you very much my dearest Lampart’s…..
