Linda and David and the staff at Island Air Charters are saddened over the loss of Horace. He was a sweet man, a great golfer, and loved aviation. We will all miss his stories of the many places he has traveled over the years. He showed great courage, determined to fight his cancer. He was loved by many and will be missed. Horace was truly a good man.

Horace was a truly wonderful man. I had the honor of flying beside Horace with a company called Trans Global Airlines flying DC8’s to Lisbon and the Azore’s. I was furloughed from Braniff International Airlines at the time and was hired as both a first and second officer. Horace gave me my checkout to Lisbon. I enjoyed our times together on layovers and the time we spent together in the cockpit.

I am a captain on the B777 for United Airlines and just got home from Dubai only to learn of this terrible news. My condolences to the entire Vick family and wanted you to know that there are those out here that you have probably never heard of that Horace had touched in one way or another.

I am very sad to learn of Horaces death.
I met him a number of times in the early 2000’s when he was a flight engineer on Brisair DC8. He always stayed whilst the aircraft was undergoing maintenance. He used to come into our Avionics workshop for his cups of coffee and a chat, he told us stories of his past, and I gather that he had had a very enjoyable career. He was a lovely friendly man, and i am glad that he carried on flying for as long as he did. I did fly with him a number of times, and on occasion went to Geneva or Nice to fix his plane.
Regards John
