Tom Enright, 63, died peacefully in Pembroke Pines, Florida, on Sunday, January 23, 2011. Tom was born and raised in Buffalo, N.Y., where he attended Canisius College, receiving a BA in Economics in 1969 and an MBA in Management in 1974.
While studying for his MBA, Tom began his insurance career with USF&G. He transferred to the company’s Miami office as manager of the Fire, Marine and Multi-Line Department in 1975, happy to get away from – in his words – “a city where it was so cold most of the year.” In 1981, he joined Dana Roehrig & Associates later part of the Swett & Crawford group. During six years as manager of the Miami office, he increased production by 500 percent, and in 1987 was named Swett & Crawford’s “Branch Manager of the Year.”
Later that year, Tom opened his own firm, Enright & Bradley, in Hollywood, specializing in excess and surplus lines wholesale brokerage. In 1992 he teamed with David Wilson of J. M. Wilson, Michigan to form Enright & Wilson, Inc., with Tom as Chief Operating Officer.
Tom was an active member of the Florida Surplus Lines Association, advocating for coherent insurance legislation at the state level; he served as a director and officer for 12 years, and was president from 2003 to 2005. He was also on the Board of Governors of the Florida Surplus Lines Service Office.
Tom taught classes at Florida International University and published a number of articles in “Florida Underwriter” magazine. He enjoyed golf, playing as often he could, and was a member of the Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club Men’s Association for 25 years. He organized many golf tournaments for charitable causes, including Canisius College and St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, Davie, where he was a parishioner.
Tom was a devoted and loving husband and father. He is survived by his wife Linda, daughter Courtney, sons Charles and William, granddaughters Cassidy and Charlotte, son-in-law Mark Moschella, two sisters, and three brothers.
A memorial gathering will be held on Sunday, January 30, at 6 p.m. at the Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club, 10500 Taft Street in Pembroke Pines.

Tom was a special person. He wasn’t your average boss; he was so much more than that. For me, he was a great leader, a comedian, a friend. I feel honored to have met Tom and will cherish all of the great memories we had together. I am a better person because of him and will be forever grateful for everything I learned from him. Everybody loved Tom. Even my boys that didn’t know him that well. He was just so easy going and free spirited. I am truly blessed for having the privelege of working for Tom. I will miss him dearly. May he rest in peace.

All my love,

Deidra
