Pendarakis , Sophie, 84, of Pembroke Pines joined our Lord and her loving husband John on April 21. 2011. Survived by her children Mary Tania Pendarakis, Anthony Pendarakis and Helen Eleni Sonenreich Steven as well as her grandchildren Katrina and Brooke Sonenreich, her sisters, Mary Copin and Georgia Hutter. Sophie grew up in Brooklyn, New York, the proud daughter of Nicholas and Eleni Canton. In 1952 she met her husband and began her family. In 1968 she moved with her family to Miami, FL. Sophie was a full time homemaker devoting herself to her husband and children. She was a long time member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hollywood and spent many years assisting with church business, baking and church celebrations. Sophie’s biggest joy was her granddaughters. An afternoon with them was filled with lots of desserts, shopping and lots of laughing and smiles. Friends may visit from 6-8 PM, Wednesday at Boyd-Panciera Douglas Rd. Chapel. There will be a Trisagion Prayer Service 7:00 PM, Wednesday at the funeral home. Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM, Thursday, Apr. 28, 2011 at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 425 N. 58 Ave. Hollywood, Florida . Interment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens.
