Laura Lia Murray

October 26, 1971~May 07, 2011

Murray, Laura Lia 39 of Palm Bay, Florida, beloved daughter of Sturdevant S. Nye predeceased and Amalia Nye, loving wife to Benjamin T. Murray, cherished granddaughter of Luisa Saporetti and adored sister of Claudia Poccia Recker and Richard Recker gently succumbed to Ovarian cancer, surrounded by her loved ones, on May 7, 2011. Born in Hollywood, Florida on October 26, 1971, Laura grew up on the South Florida beaches and loved the ocean. She loved being on the water so much that she chose a career as a travel agent specializing in cruise vacations. It was on Caribbean cruise that she met her true love, husband and soul mate, Ben. Together they built a life in South Florida with their four “four legged” children Samantha, Murphy, Rosie and Tyson. Laura’s sweet disposition, great zest for life, tremendous courage and genuine compassion for others will be greatly missed by all whose lives were touched by her generosity of spirit…she made sure everyone knew how special they were. She is also survived by her loving in-laws Julie and Barry Murray, her Aunts Fiorella, Roberta, Elizabeth and Patricia, her uncles Jonathan, Emmanuel and Benson, her “niece” Tracey, many adoring cousins and close friends. She fought valiantly but was taken far too soon by this invasive disease. Laura was a beautiful person. I met her at my second job in a chiropractic office here in Florida after moving from up north. We worked together for a short time but she always made me feel welcome, she kept in touch as often as she could. She even booked my first cruise to the Bahamas. I will miss her and her beautiful smile, my regret is that we didn’t stay in touch more often. I am so sorry for your loss. May she be in heaven looking down on us. Love you Laura.

It’s only cnce in a blue moon that we are blessed with a friend like Laura. Her kind spirit and contagious laughter won’t be forgotten. She was ever thoughtful and through her strength she has passed on a life long lesson to anyone that knew her – you can be strong and yet gentle. Several years ago while Laura and I were working together she held me up while I was shattered with grief by my mother’s passing. I will never forget her selfless acts of kindness and support.
