I’m saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was one of my closest friends at St. Anthony’s grade school in Dubuque. After graduation, he went to Walhert High and I went to Senior High schools, and we slowly lost track of one another. John and I were coin collectors and on many a Saturday we would go to his fathers Radio & TV store. His dad would give us $20.00 and we would go to the bank and get $20.00 worth of change. Then go back to the store and go through all the change, looking for old coins for our collections.
