At a time like this I always turn to one of my favorite poets, Javan.

Earnie lived a life full of living and a heart full of love for his son and Lori

if it’s just a Game

That we play

Before we leave this earth

For the heavens above

Then surely the one who wins

Is the one who learns

How to have

A life full of living

And a Heart full of Love.

Thanks Javan

The day I met Ernie, I was looking for some tires for my 1997 C4S. I found the shop at around 10 in the morning and left at 5 pm !!!!!!!!!

April 10, 2012, 12:00 am

We knew Ernie from Ernie’s Alloy wheel business and through becoming members of the Porsche club. All the members made us feel like a wonderful new member of their beautiful Porsche family, especially Ernie, Jerry, Mike and Lou. We sold our Porsche and 8 years later moved from South FL and lost touch with most of the members. We were very sad to hear of Ernie’s passing.

He will be greatly missed and our love and prayers go out to his wife and family. Rest in peace, Ernie. In loving memory….Bob & Lossi Lacoste

Ernie helped to sponsor my Vintage racecar back in the 80’s by providing wheels, tire changing and the occasional repair bill suppliment. I always had to reserve an entire day for the tire changing because once you got to his shop he had to show all his latest “treasures and toys”. He had an overwhelming enthusiasm for all things automotive and that spilled over to include his friends and life itself. He was a real character and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

April 10, 2012, 12:00 am

I’ll miss “Hi Harv this is Ern”. Always cheerful, even when there was a stressful job in the works. Sue looked forward to his friendly voice over the phone. Suprised that he could recognize her voice from Heidi’s… When we started doing Porsche wheels and caps for Ernie about 25 years ago; I still remember his first call. He said, “How come I’ve never heard of you before?’. Even over the phone I could tell he had a smile on his face. I knew this would be a character that would add some fun to our daily work world. Even though we are on different coasts, we were able to meet through PCA events. We’ll treasure that breif time together.

The selfish part is I’ll miss the only friend that was never lost in my historical wheel conversations. He frequently gave more information than I gave him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Lori, his family and friends.

Bye Ern….

Ernies was a true Maverick and a titan of this industry. As a boy growing up in NJ, I remember always seeing the ads in AutoWeek for “ERNIE’S ALLOYS’ in exotic Miami, Florida selling Porsche wheels, and wondering about this interesting company. Many years later, I got to finally meet the famous “Ernie”, and since – a wonderful business relationship ensued.

Ernie was most excited talking about 1 his Messerschmitt collection 2 his Porsche cars collection and 3 his properties all about Florida. No phone call to him was a quick in-and-out, he was excited like a child when talking about all of these. And how many times – did he invite ANYONE reading this, to one of his houses out by the Lake?

Ernie left us much to soon, but he inspired and excited all of us, in his very special way. My Friend – you are sorely missed.

Ernie, will always remember all the adventures we had growing up as next door neighbors. My mother, father ,and brothersTori and Luan all were part of your younger years as well as knowing all the friends and people who used to “hang out “on the sidewalk in front of our houses. From my first 65 bug to your drag racing ‘Cuda and the SUPERBUG pissing all the rest of the neighbors off. Selling us youngsters firecrackers and sending my brother and I on missions of destuction! You always looked out for us but were the first one to”trip us and laugh”. We had a blast.I wcould tell stories of the old times that only “our’ friends would believe!I want to let your family know how sad it is to find out you are no longer here on this earth but sure you are in a 911 Porshe RSR, full of box turtles havin fun with my brother Tory !!waiting to greet us all when it is our time!God bless and keep your family in my prayers. See ya, Buddy!

I KNEW AND DID BUSINESS WITH ERNIE FOR 40 YEARS. I BOUGHT MY FIRST WHEELS AND TIRES FOR MY 1968 912 FROM HIM WHEN I WAS IN COLLEGE.

HE WAS SMART, HONEST, FUN AND A PLEASURE TO BE WITH.

GOOD BLESS YOU ERNIE YOU WERE A REALLY NICE ADDITION TO THIS PLANET.

Luan Nuriu (Coral Springs FL)

April 16, 2012, 12:00 am

I grew up next door to Ernie, I looked up to Ernie since he was 8 years older and I know my brothers Nuri & Tory looked up to Ernie also. I used look forward to coming home from school and going to Ernie’s garage to watch and help him work on cars. I spent many hours just hanging out with Ernie and keeping him company. It was this time with him and sharing our mutual love of cars that got me into the career I have enjoyed for over 30 years Service Director for automotive dealers. I recall going on hundreds of “road tests” with Ernie, but this one time as he was going full throttle down 82nd street That was Ernie’s drag strip he forgot he was in a automatic and instead of mashing the clutch he slammed on the brakes! We both almost bashed our heads into the front windsheild! We both laughed all the way home. I have many memories with Ernie but I had not seen him in over 20 years. I wondered if I would recognize him from his recent pics. When I saw him I knew right away that was Ernie…always with a huge smile and that friendly face. It hurts knowing Erine is gone…I will always remember him. He was a very happy part of my childhood! R.I.P. old friend.

Sad to learn of Ernie’s passing. I was hoping to finally meet him this month after several misses over the years when visiting family in Hollywood. His conversations over the phone where never a dull moment when placing orders. He really helped me put the Pop! in a few VW projects. Heart felt Condolencces to his family and close friends. Hey Ernie- what’s your secret?

You always seemed like a 10 year old at Disneyland.

Remember when you dragged your Multipla to that dreadful Howard Johnson’s in North Miami Beach for that “meet”? In the rain. And it crapped out on you and we had to push it across the street to the parking lot? And you didn’t care? Despite the worst weather EVER in Miami, you were a ray of sunshine.

You were a joy to be around.

Your enthusiasm was infectious and my life is better for having known you.

Ernie i just found out today you were gone. I brought your name up in conversation with a fellow business man trying to find rare wheels as usual. I wish i knew and i wish i could have told you how much i appreciated you. You were the God father i never had. You took care of me on more then one occasion and got me out of some financial trouble when i was afraid to tell my dad. You were a mentor to me and family. We ran a lot of deals and had a lot of good times through the years my friend. It saddens me to see you go. I’m a better man for knowing you Ernie and you’ll always be a legend in my eyes. We just celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday with family, last year we spent Thanksgiving with you and Lori. We so much appreciated being invited to share the holiday with you two as none of Stacey’s family had moved south yet and my sister was at her in-laws. It was a beautiful day. I remember Stacey and I both wanted to drive our classics so I drove my dune buggy and he drove his 66 Cyclone. I think you got a kick out of that. You were certainly one of a kind and we still miss you, but are cherishing the memories. You would be so proud of Lori.

For some reason I was compelled to google ” Ernie Renzetti” this afternoon. Was both shocked and saddened to learn of Ernie’s passing. I first met Ernie through my younger brother Bobby “Crow” Richardson back in the mid 70’s. Sadly, Bobby passed the middle of last year. Ernie was very kind and generous to me. He opened up his Ernie’s Volkswagen shop to me I still have 1 of the red plastic Ernie’s Volkswagen key ring name tags somewhere in all the stuff I have kept over the years so I could rebuild my brakes and engine in my ’69 VW bug. He was so helpful when showing me what to do and how to do it and I could tell the motivation behind his kindness was he simply enjoyed helping me to help myself fix my VW. Thank you, Ernie. You were truly one of the good guys!

Death is nothing at all

I have only slipped away into the next room

I am I and you are you

Whatever we were to each other

That we are still

Call me by my old familiar name

Speak to me in the easy way you always used

Put no difference into your tone

Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow

Laugh as we always laughed

At the little jokes we always enjoyed together

Play, smile, think of me, pray for me

Let my name be ever the household word that it always was

Let it be spoken without effort

Without the ghost of a shadow in it

Life means all that it ever meant

It is the same as it ever was

There is absolute unbroken continuity

What is death but a negligible accident?

Why should I be out of mind

Because I am out of sight?

I am waiting for you for an interval

Somewhere very near

Just around the corner

All is well.

Nothing is past; nothing is lost

One brief moment and all will be as it was before

How we shall laugh at the trouble of parting when we meet again!

Ernie,
I think of you and about all the good times at the house, shop, track and the
cars. We had many great times, every time we were together.
Just not the same anymore when I go to Sebring or anytime around the cars.
Rip Ernie!

I was thinking about Ernie today so googled him. We used to play marbles together in second and third grade. He was hard to beat! I moved away from Miami soon after, but I always remember our fun times at recess. So sorry for your loss. He was a special person.
