Caren Boyd was born on July 1, 1953 to John & Margaret “Peggy” Gorman. She was the middle of seven children, her 4 sisters; Johna, Lillie, Helen and Barbara and little brothers; Billy and Timmy were very important to her.
She moved to Florida as a teenager and went to McArthur High School. Her and her future husband, Pat, lived close to each other and knew a lot of the same people but they didn’t meet until 1979. Fate, had other plans.
Caren gave birth to her first child and only son, Dustin Tyler Cote, on June 10, 1976 and he was her special little guy from day one. They had a special bond, it being just them for 3 years.
In 1979, by chance, she met Patrick Boyd through one of his coworkers. They fell in love and on September 5, 1981 they married on a lake at sunset.
On August 11, 1982 Caren gave birth to her first daughter, Ashley Lauren Boyd. Many people know the story of Ashley’ birth, it was one of her favorites to tell. Ashley came quick and without any doctors. It was just her, Pat and Ashley.
Caren gave birth to her second daughter, her little princess, Brenna Patricia Boyd, on March 7, 1984.
Caren was a wonderful wife and mother. Her and Patrick loved each other very much and she was a loving and devoted mom.
She had a special bond with her in-laws. Don & Kathy Boyd looked at her more like a daughter than daughter-in-law and Larry Boyd loved her like a sister.
Caren worked as a hair dresser for over 30 years and loved many of her clients like they were her family.
She is survived by her adoring husband, Patrick Boyd, her loving children, Dustin Cote and his wife Joanna, Ashley Boyd and Brenna Boyd-Kania and her husband Branden, her precious grandchildren; Christiaan, Brianna, Adrian, Gavin and Adonis, her sisters, Johna Hahn and her husband Richard, Lillie Robertson and her husband Dave, Helen Vaugh and her husband Tom and Barbara Gorman, her brother-in-law Larry Boyd and many nieces and nephews and her children’s friends that she loved like her own children.
She will be truly missed by all who were touched by her beautiful, giving, loving heart.

Family, my heart is broken at the loss of my precious sister/friend Caren. Knowing she is in Heaven and we will be reunited one day is what will get us through. Love you all ~ I am here for you always. <>< Heaven... is the place- where everything lasts forever, where love fills every heart, where praise never stops, where pain never enters, where joys never cease. <>< “However, as it is written: “What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived”— the things God has prepared for those who love Him.” 1 Corinthians 2:9

My sister Gail and I have so many wonderful memories of Caren, from sleep-overs in high school to hanging out with our group around Pembroke Pines. As we got older we didn’t see each other very often, but whenever we had the chance to see each other we always felt like it didn’t matter how much time had past, we loved Caren and she always returned the love. Caren had the ability to make you feel special to her. We loved and will miss her. xoxo Until we meet again. Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.

TO MY DEAR FRIEND OF 35 YEARS! CAREN, YOU WILL TRULY BE MISSED. SINCE I MOVED TO NEW SMYRNA BEACH ALMOST 6 YEARS AND LEFT THE FUNERAL HOME I HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT YOU AND THE BOYD FAMILY DAILY. EVERYDAY THAT I PUT ON MY WATCH I AM REMINDED OF THE WONDERFUL BOYD FAMILY THAT WAS IN MY LIFE FOR SO, SO MANY YEARS WHEN I LIVED IN SOUTH FLORIDA. I CAN’T EVEN BEGIN TO THINK OR COUNT HOW MANY HAIRCUTS, PERMS, OR HAIR STYLES YOU HAVE GIVEN ME. AND THEN WHEN I WOULD SIT DOWN AND SAY OH, CAREN BRUCE THINKS I SHOULD DO THIS, YOU KNEW WHAT WAS NEXT, IT WOULD BE A PIECE OF PAPER I WOULD PULL OUT BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE WHAT HE GAVE ME TO SHOW YOU HOW TO CUT. I WILL ALWAYS, REMEMBER YOU. YOUR GIRLS CAN CALL ME ANY TIME OF DAY OR NIGHT I AM A GOOD LISTENER, AND WILL ALWAYS BE THERE FOR THEM. CAREN, MY FRIEND I LOVE YOU♥

Pat, Dustin, Ashley, and Brenna,
I heard yesterday about your loss and could not find the words to describe my sadness. Caren was a great lady. She loved pestering me about my relationship with Ashley and seemed to relish the look of agony on my face every time. I did not want to dwell on your loss, but rather reinforce her great life. She loved her family. Her children were her life. I remember a picture that would always begin a discussion about its frozen moment in time. The picture shows Pat, Caren, and Dustin sitting, I believe, near a Christmas tree. Caren would tell me that she was pregnant with Ashley in that picture and she loved the fact she had Dustin and Pat by her side. The two men in her life. I hope none of you dwell on the present and slip into the past to relive some great moments with Caren. As I type, I can’t help but relive all my days at the funeral home. I miss it dearly as I miss Caren.

It is just so hard to comprehend let alone accept. I have been fortunate to spend some amazing adventures with Caren and her family. For a couple of years she cut my hair and we would have our gossip time. As everyone has said, she loved her family. She would always talk about all of them and her grandchildren. They were the sunlight of her life. I was never around Dustin that much, however there was never a conversation that did not include him. I can only hope that after 30 years of marriage, that I could still harness and embrace the true love as Caren and Patrick did. I will forever remember the genuine care that she always had, her beautiful smile, that awesome and catchy laugh, but most of all I will ALWAYS remember her hugs. Cheers Caren, I will miss you and you will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you for sharing your life with me!
With Love,
James and Traci

November 2010; I had the pleasure of going to Florida, not only to meet Caren & Patrick for the first time, but to go on my first cruise with the both of them, with James & Doug. I never imagined my first time meeting them & spending 3 days with Caren & Patrick that it would have been one of the most wonderful, joyous & memorable times in my life. Caren & Patrick welcomed me with open arms into their home before our great adventure & felt as if I had known them a lifetime. Caren could not wait to show me the pool that they were building, along with talking about how much she loved Patrick as well as her children! Since then, we have kept in touch through text & photos & I am so very grateful for that. I was blessed to have met Caren. Even more so, to go on my first cruise with such wonderful, amazing people, whom I have come to love & adore since then. Caren, You are forever in my heart, always. Traci.

Pat, Ashley, Brenna and all of the Boyd Family,
I will always have fond memories of Caren. We had a lot of laughs together. The most recent she was trying to find a video of Adonis when he realized he was standing on his own for the first time. She was so tickled and her eyes sparkled when she was finally able to show it to me. I loved our visits and catching up time. Just like everyone has said over and over again, she truly loved her family.
Caren will always have a special place in my heart. I am truly going to miss her.

Dear Patrick, Dustin, Ashley, Brenna & all of your family,
It is so terribly sad and difficult to lose someone who is so young, and who should still have many more years with us on this earth. It is definitely a journey unlike any other we experience. We hope you can find plenty of good through the bad. With the deep rooted love your family has for each other we know you will continue to live, love and laugh, because that’s what Caren would want you to do. May you find peace, comfort and joy as you work toward healthy healing. It is work! Not an easy path to travel. After our Jeffrey’s death we clung to these words: “Love allows us to love life still.” It really is so true. With the love of all of the family life is still worth loving and living. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.

Pat and Family, I am so sorry for your loss. I do know what you are going through, but that does not make it any better. She was such a great LADY with such a great smile and a wonderful laugh. We just got back together on facebook last year. All we ever talked about was our wonderful Grandchildren. We always spoiled our children, and they talked us into giving them almost always what they wanted. But we said, we just wanted to give our grandchildren everything. She loved you all so very much. Also she always loved how great you were Pat for cooking for our Bunco. Thanks for making her and all of us so lucky to have each other in our lives. Bless you all.
