Ruth Irene Koenig Knutson passed away peacefully on December 24, 2013. Ruth was born on November 5, 1924 to William and Bertha Koenig. She served in the Cadet Nurse Corps in World War II. She married William “Bill” Knutson on June 28, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to South Florida in 1951 with their children, David and Kathryn. Ruth and Bill operated Knutson’s Upholstery in Hollywood, Florida until their retirement in 1987. Ruth was predeceased by her husband, William; her brother, Richard; and her sisters, Louise and Lenore. She is survived by her older sister, Wilma; her daughter, Kathryn; her son-in-law, Fred Cox; her son, David; her daughter-in-law, Janet Elwood; and her granddaughter, Krista; along with many nieces and nephews, all of whom share fond and loving memories of her. Visitation will be held at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 28, 2013 at 11:30 a.m followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements by Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, Pembroke Pines, Florida with interment at South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ruth’s honor to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Old Davie School Foundation.
