TONY PLATZER
Erwin John Tony Platzer, 88, of Hollywood, Florida and Depew, NY, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, October 20, 2014. He was born March 21, 1926 at home in Depew, NY to the late Erwin Anton Bernhard and Tressa Catherine French Platzer. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Olive Lucille Cook 1997, and three brothers, Joseph Eugene, Leonard Charles and Alois William Babe Platzer. Survivors include a son, Martin John Platzer and wife Kim Mari Vaughan and their son Jeremy Martin; and a daughter Patricia Jo and husband Randall R. Foster.
After his Military Service in the Army Air Force, Tony returned home to Depew, NY and married the love of his life and bought the family grocery business. He was a volunteer Fireman of the Cayuga Hose Company and a member of the Pioneer Sportsman’s Club. After moving to Florida in 1961, he worked for Western and Southern Life Insurance and retired from a lengthy service at Peoples Gas Company. Tony was an avid fisherman, traveler, and great story teller. The highlight of his day was to go to breakfast at JP’s Bagel Place on Hollywood Blvd. He considered this to be his second home and loved all of the people that worked there like his second family. He looked forward to seeing the patrons for daily banters on current events, politics and life in general.
The family would like to thank Sherrol Wallace and Georgia Smith and staff at Sherrol’s Home Care on Harrison Street in Hollywood for all of the wonderful care that they gave to Dad over the past months. They are angels to have as caregivers.

Dad was my special friend…I will miss him very much. He was a wonderful, Husband, Father and Grandfather and the “BEST” Father-In-Law one person could ever ask for.
We had many great times over the years Fishing, Boating, going to Church as a Family every Sunday at the local Lutheran Church and Happy Hour and Family Dinners at his home and ours.
Thanksgiving and Christmas will never be the same.
May “PEACE” be with him and the Memories never fade….
