George A. Augusto passed away on October 26, 2014, at the age of 92. He resided in Port Charlotte, FL for over 35 years. George was born and raised in Newark, NJ. He graduated from Newark East Side Commercial and Technical High School in 1940 and was a member of the school’s National Honor Society. He married Needda in 1944 and the couple celebrated 70 years of marriage in July, 2014. They lived in Patterson and then Belleville, NJ. He was employed at Western Electric/AT&T for 36 years as a Supervisor in Telecommunications Research, Development and Testing. He was a member of the Western Electric Kearny Flying Club. In 1977, he retired and moved to Port Charlotte. In Florida, he was an active member of the Italian American Club of Charlotte County. George had a passion for reading and enjoyed traveling, and had many hobbies including photography and music. He is survived by his wife, Needda Augusto; his daughter, Loraine Martikes, and his son-in-law, Peter Martikes, of Cooper City, FL. The Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held on Oct. 30, 2014, at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care and St. Mark Catholic Church in Cooper City.
