Vincent P. Cravero

September 11, 1927~April 13, 2015

Vincent Cravero was born in 1927 to Michael Cravero and Catherine Tosto.
At the young age of 18 he served his country by joining the United States Navy in WWII. Shortly upon his return, he met and married, Dorothy Lupinacci. Over the course of 66 years, he and his wife had five children: Michael, Cathy, Kim, Keith, and Cindy; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Kelly, Taylor, Kyle and Madison; and his great granddaughter, Daniella.

Vincent got his start in the produce industry when his father opened Cravero Brothers Produce in Miami. He took over the family business when his father passed away. He continued working until Cravero Bros. closed their doors in 1994. Vincent was unable to settle down in retirement, and after only one year, he went back to work. He worked for Avis for another fifteen years. This time, he would retire for good. With plenty of free time, Vincent took his family on a weekend cruise; and for the following year, he would celebrate Friday nights and Saturday mornings with those he loved at all his favorite places: Amicis, Cracker Barrel, IHOP, and much more. But everyone’s favorite place was the Cravero’s on Sunday evenings, when his wife, Dorothy, would pour out her love in another serving of meatballs and marinara. These are the moments we will never forget, the same moments that will get us through the tough times.

Vincent was an amazing caring family man, a devoted husband, a loving father, and generous grandfather and great grandfather. Vincent will be forever remembered by his family for his generosity, his sweet disposition and of course, his amazing sense of humor.

A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2015, 2:00 p.m. at the Cooper City Church of God, 9191 Stirling Road, Cooper City, FL 33328. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made in his memory to The Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 or www.woundedwarriorproject.org/donate.aspx

Even though it has been many years since Vernon’s family has been with yours, we remember many good times. Dot’s meatballs rivaled Grandma Cravero’s! We all send our love and prayers. My dad, Vernon, lives with me in Chicago. He is doing well. Sharee, Gary and Vernon

My deepest condolences go out to the entire family. I first met Vince in 1987 upon moving to SFLA and entering the produce business. In a business of often gruff and rude personalities, Vince was always the total gentleman. I will always have found memories of early mornings spent on the service dock chatting with him. He will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Vince gave me an opportunity to work for him when I was first starting my family. I spent 10 years with him and he was as genuine a person on the first day I met him as the day I moved on with my career. I will be forever grateful for the chance he gave me but also because I had the privilege of having him as a friend since the day I met him. He will never be forgotten.
