SICKLE, (Mary) Eleanor, 94, of Miramar, Florida, died January 10, 2020. Eleanor was born in Luzurne County, PA, to Michael and Mary Sickle on May 2, 1925. As a young woman, she survived polio. She was a career woman for most of her adult life, working as a switchboard operator and executive secretary. As a side job, she worked at Jai Lai each season. In 1971 she became a partner with her brother-in-law in Aire-Flo Filters, Inc., a small, successful, air conditioning filter manufacturing company. She retired in 1998.
Eleanor was active in the community as a member of the Italian American Club of Hollywood and a member of the Hollywood Lions Club. Eleanor was considered beautiful, inside and out, winning the title of Gold Seal Pump Queen. In her younger days, she enjoyed spending time in her rose garden. She loved to craft, travel, and was an avid bowler. While Eleanor never had children of her own, she always had a fur baby. She loved her dogs and is survived by her current longhaired Chihuahua, Princess.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents Michael G. Sickle and Mary A. Gallian, along with her brothers Al Sickle and Michael Sickle, and sisters Palma Citro and Jean DiMura. She is survived by sisters Caroline Renaldo and Gloria Sixt, brother, (William) John Sickle, many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Eleanor will be remembered by her family and friends as a sassy, stylish, fun-loving, high-energy woman. She cared for her parents in their later years as well as a few nieces who lived with her for short periods of time over the years.
The family wishes to extend its thanks to Suzette Newcomer and her family for taking Eleanor into their home and giving her care and love over the past year.

There will be a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 10:00 AM at St. Stephens Catholic Church located at 2000 South State Road 7, Miramar, Florida 33023. Please join the family immediately following the service for a repast to celebrate Eleanor. Repast held at The Italian American Club of Hollywood, 700 South Dixie Highway Hollywood, Florida 33020.
