September 19, 1950~February 06, 2020

Joseph Richard Keville, 69, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, entered into the Lord’s Kingdom on February 6, 2020.

Joseph was known as Joe, Pop, Pop-Pop, Joe-Joe and Uncle Joe. He was a brother, father, husband, uncle, grandfather and staunch Democrat.

He was born in Lansdowne, Pennsylvania on September 19, 1950, to the late Joseph and Mary (nee Gear) Keville.

Joe is survived by his wife, Beverly (nee Butler); kids, Bill Wood and Katherine Weber (nee Wood) and her husband, Chris; stepson, Stephen Gross and his wife Melissa (nee Rubin); and grandchildren, Casey, Jeremy, Andrew, Julia, Isaac, and Ethan.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased in death by his sister Mary Christine Keville and his brother Michael Francis Keville.

Joe loved cheering on Villanova and going “down the shore.” You would often find him with Law and Order episodes on repeat and he was always up for watching a Humphrey Bogart movie. Although Joe had lived in Florida for the last 10 years, he remained “Delco” at heart. Joe also loved all things Philadelphia, from cheesesteaks and Tastykakes to its city streets, which he knew like the back of his hand (helpful to his last career as a cab driver before retirement). Most importantly, he loved the Phillies and Eagles. He was on cloud nine watching his Eagles win the Super Bowl in 2018.

He would tell anyone who would listen (or even if you weren’t listening) a story about playing pick-up basketball, football, and baseball in Drexel Hill. His memories of childhood in simpler times were plentiful and held a special place in his heart.

Joe was an animal-lover. He was especially fond of his childhood dog, Friday, and his cat, Tigger.

Joe was passionate and gregarious; his personality (and loud voice) filled a room. If he was there, you knew it. He was the life of the party and the one hurling insults at Republican politicians. He “knew” how to solve the world’s problems—clear out the Republicans from office!

Joe was the antithesis of politically correct, and there was no chance you didn’t know where you stood with him. He was quick to offer a compliment when he thought well of someone or something, and he had no filter if he decided a criticism was deserved.

He gave great hugs.

Joe is missed today and will be on every day to come.

A celebration of life service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 21, 2020, at Saint Bernadette of Lourdes Church, 1035 Turner Avenue, Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania.

Memorial donations in lieu of flowers may be made in his memory to the Red Cross.

Arrangements entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.
