Goodette Alexander Davis

July 16, 1950~March 22, 2020

Goodette Alexander Davis was born to Andral and Martha Davis on July 17, 1950 in St. Ann, Jamaica. Goodie as he was affectionately called was the last of his siblings which numbered ten. No doubt he benefitted from the experiences of his parents and his siblings who all predeceased him with the exception of Kenneth, Myrtle and Lydia.

You may ask what’s in a name, but if you knew Goodette and get a glimpse at the meaning of his name then you can begin to understand the person he was.

The root meaning for Goodette is cheerful and it is associated with ruler, he was steered by his desire to make things happen and to follow the unpaved paths in life. He took the opportunities handed to him, he was more sentimental than realistic, and was compassionate, cheerful and friendly.

He was a husband, an excellent and confident father to three beautiful girls, Antoinette, Nicole and Orla. He had three granddaughters, Ashlee, Alexys and Jianna who were his pride and joy and he often referred to them as his “Grannies”.

Goodie walked many paths as he worked hard as a motor vehicle mechanic, a machinist, bartender, and waiter in the hotel industry while operating a business and aiding others as a member of both JUTA and Tropical Tours Company. His easy and contagious smile coupled with his courage and integrity endeared him to many who formed a very loving and supportive community of family and friends.
He was a well-known sports fanatic, especially car racing. When the Daytona 500 was on, he would sit in his recliner in front of the television all day, relaxing and enjoying his favorite sport. Or, he would be spending time at Nikki or Orla’s house doing some sort of landscaping or working on cars. Never straying from his passion and skills. Then usually finishing off the gathering with a game of Dominoes, where he and his niece Marja would end up in a match of who was the best player.

Goodie had a focused and singular mind that especially sustained him during the last few years as he fought the claimed disease that took him away from his loved ones and dear friends on March 22, 2020.

Left to mourn are his children Antoinette, Nicole and Orla, grandchildren Ashlee, Alexys and Jianna, sisters Lydia and Myrtle, brother Kenneth numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and friends. Nevertheless, he will stand out in the memories of all not by looks or what we think but by the inner person he was created to be.

Goodette Alexander Davis, your memories won’t go. You will always be loved “LOVE NEVER FAILS”.
“AFTER GLOW”
I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one,
I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.
I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the waves of happy times and laughing time And bright and sunny days
I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave when life is done.
