Winifred Mary Lawes was born in Kingston, Jamaica on June 5, 1954 to the parents of Daphne Deloris Robinson and Mr. Joseph Burgher. “Grace” as she was known was the third child of 7 siblings: Olga, Janet, Richard, Carlton, Celia, and Carol.
Grace along with a few of her sisters attended Cockburn Pen all age school in Kingston, Jamaica. After becoming a young woman Grace along with a few of her sisters decided to travel abroad. She wanted to make a better life not only for herself but for her growing family. She knew the task was difficult but she made the hard choice to leave her beloved husband Albert and three kids Carol, Dionne, and Dwayne behind.
After establishing herself she was reunited with her loved ones. She was unconditionally loved. Grace was very loving, caring, and understanding, but most of all she was well respected. For this reason she became a second mother to all of her nieces and nephews. Grace enjoyed spending time with her beloved children Carol, Dionne, and Dwayne, but most importantly, the beat that kept her heart going is that of her beautiful and loving grand kids. There is Racquel, Brennan, Nathaniel, Jaden, Jada, and Italy. Her love for them is undying so her love lives on within their hearts. Graces leisure time was spent with beloved siblings, which included sisters Olga, Janet, Celia, Carol, brothers; Richard and Carlton. They would past time visiting each other constantly, staying in touch and praying with each other.
The family that prays together will always stay together. Grace left behind many nieces and nephews, uncles and aunts, as well as cousins. She left behind an array of close friends Lola Allen and the rest of her church family. On April 18, 2020 Mary aka Grace was called home to be with our Lord Jesus Christ and though her lights were dimmed it glows bright within our hearts. For she is gone but never forgotten. Rest now our sweet Mary for your work here on earth is done until our life is over and Gods work has now begun.
