It is with great sadness that the family of Teddy George Barnwell announce his passing on August 1, 2020. He was born in Tifton, Georgia to Ellis Clay and Ruth Vernell Barnwell in December 1951. He and family moved to Hialeah in December 1956 where he grew up having many friends which became special lifelong friendships. Involved in sports growing up, he was also involved in stock car racing at Hialeah Speedway, as well as Palm Beach Speedway, where he had a very successful racing career. Teddy earned the honor of induction into The Hialeah Speedway Hall of Fame in 2012. He had an extremely large group of friends and colleagues from the racing community. Teddy was a strong, loving man with a great sense of humor. He wore his heart of his sleeve. He always lit up a room when he entered. A funny story or joke was always expected from him. Teddy was extremely proud of all of his five children. He bragged about his grandchildren every opportunity he had.
Teddy is survived by his children Alecia, Jennifer, Todd, Keri and Ryan. He leaves behind grandchildren Alex, Lexi, Hannah, Darian, Anneleise, Alyssa, Peyton, Harper and Grayson; Great-grandchild Liam. His brothers Tommy, Bobby and Billy (Juanita). Additionally survived by fiancee Carole Miller, his love and longtime
caretaker. Thirty five nieces/nephews; Twenty seven great nieces/nephews; and a multitude of family and friends.

Watching this video shows Uncle Ted’s life was complete and full of love. He enjoyed what he loved and loved who loved him. He will always be a big part of our family and greatly missed. My heart aches but I know he is no longer suffering. Mostly he is in Heaven with our loved ones who left before him. I love you Uncle Ted and will never forget you. The legacy you left in your kids, grandkids and great-grandson will continue to grow. God bless. Always, Donna. ❤️🙏💔

What a beautiful tribute to a great man. My late husband Robert Fry, admired him so much. He spoke about what a great racer and friends they were. Now they’re both in Heaven sharing stories and watching-out for us all. My deepest condolences to Carole and his entire family and friends. God Bless you all.
