Steve Nieves, age 72, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away on August 26, 2020 from Covid-19 related complications. He fought a courageous 42-day battle with the disease but was unable to recover. He was born in New York to the late Jose Antonio and Luz Maria Nieves. He was preceded in death by his parents: Jose Antonio and Luz Maria Nieves and brother: Billy Nieves.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 42 years: Carmen Nieves; children: Steve Nieves, Jr., Thomas Nieves, Milagros Nieves and Shila Nieves; grandchildren: Samuel, Steve, Mixael, Suzann, Shailiz, Stephanie, Alexander, Kailey and Lucas; 3 great grandchildren and brothers: Jose Nieves and Frank Nieves.
Steve fought and was wounded in the Vietnam War while in the Army. He loved spending time with his family, cooking and watching TV at home. He will always be remembered with love by his family and all who knew him.
Private Celebration of Life Services to be held by his family. Future internment will be in South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, Florida.

“Shila’s Daddy” was the first man I came to understand what a father was. Time and distance separated our physical proximity, but watching his fatherhood evolve through FB has been amazing.
