Hensel Pirkey passed away on October 4, 2020 after a month long illness. Pirkey as most people called him was born on a farm in Rockingham County Virginia. His family them moved to Blackstone Virginia where he joined the U.S. navy to serve his country. While stationed in Massachusetts he met and fell in love with the late Priscilla Pirkey (Dean) and lived in Malden Massachusetts for close to fifty years. After retiring from the U.S. postal service he and Priscilla moved to Pembroke Pines, FL for what was to be the rest of their lives. Hensel was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years along with a brother and two sisters. He is survived by his sister Diana Tucker and his four children Susan Eccleston, Hensel E. Pirkey Jr. and his wife Lucy Pirkey, Debra Scopa and Michael Pirkey. He was also the grandfather of five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren Duke and Ace Eccleston. A private service will be held at the mausoleum at the Fred Hunter cemetery on Friday, October 23, 2020 at 3:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
