Eleanor Patricia Arnyas, age 92 of Hollywood, Florida passed away October 12, 2020. She was born in Bound Brook, New Jersey on September 4, 1928.
Eleanor grew up in Bound Brook. It seemed she had aunts, uncles and cousins on every corner. Her mother loved to cook large Italian meals, and she did it all from scratch, including making her own pasta. There was always a house full of family and friends to enjoy food, games and lots of laughs. Her father loved to fish. He would clean and wrap the fish for Eleanor to deliver across town. She was so excited to receive 10 cents for a tip.
Eleanor was very proud to be the first one in her family to earn her high school diploma. She worked as a bookkeeper for most of her life.
In 1974 she moved to Florida with her husband Andrew Arnyas. They loved to go dancing, take Caribbean Cruises and travel to Las Vegas. Through the years some of the best memories were created with family reunions. These family gatherings included places like Walt Disney World; the Outer Banks, North Carolina; Oahu, Hawaii; Wellington, Florida; Middlesex, New Jersey; and Munson, Ohio.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her husband Andrew Arnyas and her sister Hilda Rotola.
She is survived by her four children – Barbara (John) Kessinger of Munson, OH; Roger Sox of Middlesex, NJ; Paul Arnyas of State College, PA; and Eleanor “DeeDee” (Glenn) Trotter of Wellington, FL. Her eight grandchildren Robert Kessinger, Kevin (Kelly) Kessinger, Greg (Christy) Kessinger, Jennifer (Dave) Kuban, Matthew Sox, Kyle Trotter, Nicole Trotter and Joshua Trotter and her eight great-grandchildren (all Kessingers): Nicole, Jack, Jonathan, Alex, Ally, Ryan, Becca and Nicholas. She is also survived by her niece Linda Rotola, cousins Nina Caruso and Valerie Eichelhart.
Visitation will take place on Monday, October 19th, from 10:00 – 12:00 at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N University Drive, Pembroke Pines. Funeral service will follow at the mausoleum at the Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood.

The FULL “Italian Thanksgiving Dinner” IMMEDIATELY followed by the FULL “Regular Thanksgiving Dinner”…the Christine Lee’s shirts at Disney World…the pool rules at the condo that seemed SO restrictive to three young, rambunctious brothers. These are just a few of the memories of my grandmother that I will carry forever. Be with Him in peace eternal. Kevin

Dear Mom,
I am so sorry I could not be the one to bring you something to eat, but I can only imagine the feast that grandma had ready for you. Wedding soup, homemade raviolis, Braciole and meatballs, and homemade anisette cookies.
Grandpa sitting in his chair next to the record player ready to play all your favorites from Barbra Streisand, Engelbert Humperdinck, and Neil diamond. And in every room there’s people – Andy and Aunt Maggie, Aunt Hilda, Dida and Aunt Mary, Nikki and Marie, Fran and Ricky, The list is endless. Everyone is happy and healthy and full of life. Enjoy the party mom, you deserve it. Forever in my heart. I love you.

Grandma,
I fondly remember so many family vacations / reunions that brought us all together with you. Playing 31 or Skip Bo until we couldn’t keep our eyes open….. Sipping on a tumbler of Dewars….. Dancing at weddings, birthdays, and anniversary celebrations….. Enjoying the beach and pool….. Getting the “It’s a Small World” song stuck in our minds for days. So many good times. We were all blessed to have you in our lives and you will be missed. Love you always.
Rob
PS- Save me a seat at the card table……. Until then, I blind knock. 🙂

Bingo. I’ll knock. I have 31, everybody pays. Skip-Bo anyone? Where to for dinner, as long as it’s Italian. These are all words and phrases heard frequently as long as mom was a part of the group. Her desire for the family to do things that involved everyone was her trademark, and in most cases she came out the winner. In reality though we were all winners just by being around this vibrant and energetic lady. She was loved by many and will be missed always, but especially around the holidays and her month long birthdays. I am sure she is now dancing with Andy and looking for someone to beat in a card game. Goodbye until we meet in Heaven.

It was a pleasure knowing you Mrs. Arnyas, always enjoyed your bright smile and witty humor! It’s so nice to read all the fond memories your family has, and to think of you playing endless games of Skip-bo, Rummikub and 31 in Heaven. So long for now.
Love, Patricia
