October 30, 1929~March 17, 2021

Patricia “Pat” Vogelsang was the last sibling of an Irish family of 9. She was born on October 30, 1929 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Her parents were Patrick and Marie Wade.

Pat lived her childhood in tough times, born in the Depression prompted by the 1929 Stock Market Crash and then later on as the US entered into WW11. She saw her brothers go off to war and her sisters worked as weldersband riveters, building war machines here in the States, so that the US would prevail victorious.

Her family moved to Atlantic City, New Jersey where she attended Holy Spirit High School. After graduating from Holy Spirit High School, she worked in the hotel industry as a front desk receptionist at the Hollywood Beach Hotel. She worked summers up north, near her home in South Jersey and the winters here in South Florida.

In 1958, she met Paul Vogelsang and after dating a short while, they eloped in Folkston, Georgia. They had 2 children and raised their family in Hollywood, Florida.

Pat was a member of Nativity Catholic Church from the beginning, when Mass was held under a tent. She attended Mass every Sunday for over 50 years. She loved Nativity Catholic Church and School.

She was President of the Hollywood Sinawik Women’s Club for many years, coordinated numerous events to raise funds to help sponsor students that achieved grades that would earn them scholarships. She also volunteered for many Kiwanis fundraisers with her husband, Paul, who was President of the Hollywood Beach Kiwanis Club.

She had great friends in the Pinter family – with Frank and Grace and their family and  spent many summers in Cherokee, North Carolina, even after her husband’s death.

Pat’s personality was one of toughness, loyalty and kindness. You could say that she was a product of her times…She was “Old School” for sure.

Her being of Irish decent, it is kind of ironic that she passed away on St. Patty’s Day, never the less, this was one of her favorite days, always dressing up in Irish green.

Pat is survived by her children: Robyn (Rob) Lankton and Mark P. (Johanna) Vogelsang; grandchildren: Matthew Vogelsang, Melanie Vogelsang and Max Vogelsang and her dear friend: Grace Pinter.
