Anastasios Peter Ganas was born to Panagiotis and Evagelia Ganas on July 17, 1933 in a small village named Koniditsa near Sparta, Greece. He immigrated to the United States when he was 18, settling in Ohio. From 1957-1959, Tasso served in the US Navy for 2 years. He moved to Chicago, IL. where he opened a restaurant with his brother, George, and his cousins, Gus and George.
He went back to Greece in 1965 and married Christina Ekonomou his wife of 55 years. They lived in Chicago until 1968 when they moved to S. Florida. They resided in Hollywood, Fl where they raised 2 daughters; Evagelia Julie Ganas & Penelope Penny Pappas. He worked as a maintenance man and managed his rental properties until a few months before he passed away. Anastasios had strong work ethics, an unyielding spirit, loved nature and always provided for his family. He was a very dedicated husband, father and grandfather. After an arduous two year battle with colon cancer, he passed away on April 26, 2021. His spirit lives on through his loving wife, children, and three grandsons.
A Funeral Service will be taking place on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 820 NE 14th Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Burial will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens, 3001 North 72nd Avenue, Hollywood, Florida. Both services will be held privately.

My deepest condolences to the Ganas family. I met Mr Ganas and his family on numerous trips to Florida where they welcomed me into their home with open arms. It is with great regret I heard about his passing. My prayers are with your family at this difficult time. May his memory be eternal!
