Amos Hansell, Jr.

August 21, 1924~July 03, 2021

Amos Hansell Jr. passed away peacefully on July 3rd, 2021. He was 96 years old and was beloved by his family and friends. His wife Elinor was his best friend for 70 years. She passed on in 2019.Now they are together in heaven.

Amos was born in a farmhouse in Rancocas New Jersey on August 21, 1943. He had one sister Julia who he adored. Julia lived to be 100 years old and predeceased him.

He volunteered and served two years in the United States Army during WWII. He, being a Quaker, served as a noncombatant and managed a military supply base in Calcutta, India.

He and Elinor visited Florida and loved it. They moved to Florida and raised a family here. He is survived by his son James Hansell and daughter Terry Hansell Candee, four grandchildren, Carey Young, Craig Hansell, Stephen Shoemaker and Carlynn Candee. Also three great grandchildren, Ashlyn Young, Peyton Young and Aiden Bayless.

He was a Christian, a Boy Scott Leader, a Sunday School teacher, a volunteer Santa Claus, an auxiliary Policeman, a wonderful husband and father, a persistent Jokester, a sewing machine sales and repairman and a very successful insurance salesman.

He was, and I quote him, he was so funny and loved to recite the Boy Scout Law: “Always be Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean and Reverent”

He was always ready to give advice and help people. He was a faithful, loving family man and will be greatly missed.

Dear Terry,
My deepest condolences on the loss of your dad. It is so very hard to lose a loved one especially your dad. May he Rest In Peace and know that he is now with your mom. When I saw his picture just now it really brought a smile to my face. I loved your dad and how kind he was. Please remember all the good times and know that he had a great life because you were his daughter.
Your friend always,
Maureen
