Gerald Newman, age 86, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away January 6, 2022. He was born on November 21, 1935 in New York, New York to the late Lester and Becky Newman. Later moved to New Jersey at a young age.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Newman and his daughter, Susan Travieso.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carole J. Newman; son, Leonard Newman; granddaughters: Amanda Lent, and her husband Judd and Lauren Degani, and her wife Rachel; great-grandchildren: Juliet Lent, Addison Lent and Skyler Degani and a loving extended family.
Jerry was a devoted son and brother and father to his family.
He was very proud of his military service and where he was entrusted with the highest level of NATO clearance. After the military, he was not only a successful entrepreneur, who was able to retire at 35, he also had great financial and business acumen.
Although he was unable to achieve his goal of going in business with his brothers he was alway there if they need advice.
After his “official retirement” from his real estate investments he went on to become a very successful hobbyist as a career. However, his hobbies were very unconventional.
Because he has the option of not going to work any given day he was able to spend months at a time in the summers traveling with his wife Carole and his children Susan and Lenny. Later on he was able to do same with his grand daughters.
He was also fortunate to spend time with his great grand daughters.
Because of his life experiences Jerry was also a natural storyteller. He always had some story that related to any topic one could come up with.
He was also a serious art enthusiast and athlete.
He also had many “girlfriends”. He was a perpetual flirt, while at the same time being devoted to his wife of 63 years, Carole.
He was also pleased that he could contribute to the “Embassy Lakes Community”.
They say the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. In Gerald’s case, it was with sweets. He was a sucker for a Snickers Bar.
