Sabita was predeceased in 1989 by her loving husband of 32 years, Francis Rampersad. They were childhood sweethearts whose pet name for each other was Chico, and shared a bond that was admired by all who knew them.
She was the cherished baby sister to Christina (Rajee) Mohansingh and Sarran Sankar, who also predeceased her.
She is survived by her daughters Gail Ali and Helen Ali, sons-in-law Clive Ali and Aleem Ali, grandson Shawn Ali, granddaughter Stephanie Punancy, grand son-in-law Matthew Punancy, and her great granddaughter, Lia Punancy.
Sabita emigrated to New York in 1968 and enjoyed her career as a Maternity Ward Nursing Assistant at St. John’s Hospital in Yonkers, New York prior to moving to Miramar, Florida in 1985, where she spent the last 37 years.
Sabita was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s in 1994 and was lovingly cared for by her daughter, Helen, and son-in-law, Aleem, through the many difficult stages of her condition. Her family is grateful to her aide, Nadia Roberts, for being at her side the last 5 years of her life.
Sabita had an enormous capacity for love and friendship that was enjoyed by the many relatives and friends who called her Mom, Grannie, Red Gramma, Tanty Sackie, Sabits, Nana and many other endearments. She was always the life of the party, hosting hundreds at her homes during her lifetime where music, eats and dance were never in short supply.

Gail I was saddened by your mother’s death. She is a child of God and like any child will be cared for in a new realm. I think of your father and how he is doing. My prayers are with him and his lifetime lost. My prayers are with you and Clive as well as the health of your sister.
