Mario Ibanez

Mario Ibanez, 89, of Pembroke Pines, Florida peacefully entered the arms of his Lord on February 21, 2022, under the care of VITAS Hospice in Stuart, Florida, with his loving wife Juliana by his side.  He was born to the late Manuel Ibáñez León and Juana Fajardo Alfaro on May 29, 1932, in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba.

Mario and Juliana met while working together in Santiago, Cuba, and married in 1959.  Over the following 63 years Mario led his family to immigrate to the United States and was blessed by many strangers, who became friends then family, in obtaining housing, jobs, provision, and ultimately citizenship.  Mario was always willing to do any job offered and did it with pride and dedication.  His tremendous work ethic was always recognized everywhere he worked.  Throughout his life he worked in construction, the restaurant industry, and trucking.  Mario and Juliana raised three children, Mario de Jesus (Maria Eugenia), Juliet (Edward Dolan), and Nancy (Roussell).  The family has grown today to include nine grandchildren Mario

Ibanez (Christian), Christina Ibanez, Michael Ibanez, Jillian West (Jordan), EJ Dolan (Lindsey), Cody Dolan (Erika), Marisa Moran (Michael), Sarah Benz (Steve), and Joseph Roussell.  They are also blessed with 9 great grandchildren, Vivian, Jhett, Jemma, Cooper, Charlotte, Valentina, Samantha, James, and Evelyn.

The family refers to Mario most fondly as “Abuelo” and “Super Mario”.Mario is preceded by his parents and 11 siblings, Gustavo, Juan, Isabel, Estelvina, Emilia, Jose, Luis, Francisco, Mercedes, Antonia, Rafael, In Mario’s last year of life, he was still making friends, serving others, and ending conversations with “God Bless You!”

Memorial Mass to be celebrated on Tuesday, March 15th, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. Mark the Evangelist Catholic Church, 5601 S Flamingo Rd., Southwest Ranches, FL 33330. Phone: 954-434-3777. Mass will be followed by a motorcade to Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Gardens – St. John Section, 6301 Taft St Hollywood, FL for the final Urn Committal.
