April 25, 1957~June 06, 2022

George Anthony Delgado, better known as “Georgie”, made his way to our heavenly father at the age of 65. He passed away peacefully in his home on June 6th at 2:13pm.

Georgie met and married the love of his life, Carmen Roxanna Delgado in Lima, Peru. A love that began when they first met at the young age of 13. They were married for 37 years, and had three children: Claudia, George and Benjamin. Georgie had a generous nature, and his commitment in life were to his wife and children. He had a love for home renovations, and seeing the finished product always made him proud. That admiration is reflected in his children that watched and learned from him in all of his endeavors. He never let anything stand in his way, and he loved to take on challenges and learn new things. He enjoyed family time on camping and road trips. He also had a passion for cooking Peruvian dishes, and admirably these traits too have been passed down to his two grandchildren, Philip Jr. and Gia.

Georgie enjoyed six years of retirement from Ryder Transportation, where he worked as a Masters Refrigeration Technician. A job that he was proud of and held for more than 20 years. He was considered a savvy mechanic and one a reliable asset for the Ryder company. He was the “go to man” for everything, he was always willing to step in and help.

Towards the end of his years, he remained strong and knowledgeable on every topic of conversation. He may have begun to physically fade, but he remained talkative and humorous even in his final days. Though he is gone from our side, his presence will always be with us, in spirit and in the memories of the life lessons he taught us all along the way. He will forever be our angel looking upon us from the kingdom of heaven.

He is survived by his wife for 37 years Carmen Roxana Delgado (65), his daughter Claudia Roxana Delgado (34), his son George Anthony Delgado, Jr (33), his son Benjamin Andrew Delgado (29), his son in law Philip Michael DeRhone (42) and his grandkids Philip Michael Derhone, Jr. and Gia Presley Derhone. He also leaves a sister Cecilia Delgado, her husband Francisco Schettini, his aunt Elena Bustamante, nieces, nephews and friends.

Arrangements entrusted to: Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

I had the honor and privilege of knowing big George for what I would say is over 20years. I met him when Claudia and I became friends at the age of 10. I was going through some hard family stuff at the time and I always seem to find my way to their home. Now I’m sure that would have been frustrating to must parents. But he never made me feel uninvited I felt like family. I always saw him very quiet and didn’t say to much but he was always present. Loving and caring and loved to be in the moment. Making memories whenever he got the chance to from when we were kids to recently with his grandkids. I feel blessed that I was able to be apart of so much and witness the joy he brought to his family and all those around him. Though quiet his presence was loud and unwavering and will surely be missed.

I will never forget our interesting long chats at night about different topics, especially history! It was so easy to pass ideas from one to another. At all times, I felt so welcome in your home. You always indulged me by taking me to restaurants, like Olive Garden. We would cheers from time to time with a glass of wine, or better, a bottle, while Carmencita worried about your many pills you should take. You will always be in our heart and memories. Rest in peace my dear Georgie.

Dear Carmencita, I just came across this sad news and cannot believe it has been more than a week since your husband’s passing. I didn’t know him personally but felt as if I did because of your updates and comments. I am very sorry and my condolences to you and your children and their families. I too lost my dad at age 64, and it seems we could have enjoyed them for a bit longer but this is not our decision but God’s. He has a purpose in everything. My heart goes to you and your family and I will try to contact you when I am back in down by the end of the month. My prayers are with you!.

Uncle Georgie,

I will always remember going to visit my cousins in your house. Great hospitality, very nice, always wanted to be surrounded by family. I remember once going to your workshop and it was very big and it had big trucks, it seemed like fun. You were always there to help your children and travelled to show them how to remodel their homes , even to Erie with my uncle Lucho. Also incredible mechanic! New everything about cars. Alex got along with you very well and thinks about you too.

You were a very tall and distinguised man with great sense of humor, you made me laugh. It was nice for me to visit all of you. You leave great memories behind in my family, everyone cared for you. You will always be in our hearts and minds. God bless you ! 💓

George and I were inseparable after we met while working at Gibsons department store in San Antonio Texas in the mid seventies. I’ve been looking for you for many years and saddened to see that you are now gone. I’ll always be grateful for your friendship and the time you spent with my family. RIP George.
