Amabelle Grey; age 85, passed away on June 10, 2022 at Memorial Hospital West, Florida.
She was born in Retrieve St. James to Aaron Brown and Clara Gray on April 25, 1937. Amabelle was the
youngest and the last surviving of 5 children. Amabelle was a self-taught, talented Dressmaker who was
highly sought after in her community; enabling her to provide a good life for her family. She had 5
children; Edwin Darling and Icilda Darling-DeMercado predeceased her.

Amabelle was a devoted single parent who dedicated her life to her girls and instilled in them, the love
of faith and family. Her home was a safe haven for her children’s friends. She welcomed visitors and
found joy in breaking bread with them. In 1968 she relocated to Kingston. She later met and married
Frederick Grey who pre-deceased her.

She migrated to Pembroke Pines, Florida in 1998 and shortly thereafter, became a member of Holy
Sacrament Episcopal Church. In the earlier days when she was able, she volunteered her services to do
alterations for the Church’s “New To You Thrift Shop”.

She learned Needle Point at the Senior Center and became so proficient at it that she created pieces
with inspirational quotes and bible verses which she gifted to friends and family. She enjoyed playing
Bingo, Dominoes and Pokeno with her friends at the Senior Center where she went daily; prior to
COVID.

Her family will remember her as a loving, kindhearted and cheerful person who always had a smile on
her face; even under challenging circumstances.

Amabelle is survived by her daughters, Beverley Reid, Saidy Darling and Sheron Darling
Grandchildren: Shani Reid and Jody-Ann DeMercado
Son-In-Law: Anthony DeMercado
Nieces: Muriel Outar-Lawrence, Daisilyn McKenzie, Delores Montaque-Fisher, Jennifer Montaque and
other relatives and friends

A Service of Thanksgiving will be held at the Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church, 2801 North University
Drive, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024 on Saturday, June 25, 2022 at 10:00am; viewing at 9:00am; Interment
follows at Hollywood Memorial Gardens, 6301 Taft St., Hollywood FL 33024.

Ms Saidy, Ms Beverly, Ms Sheron, Shani and jody my heart is breaking for you all. I’m praying for you all and hoping that God will give you ladies the strength to carry on her wonderful legacy. I know words cannot take away the hurt you all are feeling, but I want you to know how much I care and love your family. Sending you love and strength in these difficult times.
