Jonathan James Havergal Turner was tragically struck by a car and killed on October 1, 2022. His spirit mercifully left his body upon impact and he is now at true peace in the presence of God.
JJ, as he was known to his loved ones, was born April 26th, 1996, in Fort Myers, Florida where he grew up with his eight siblings. He graduated from Fort Myers High School and attended the University of Central Florida. He loved playing basketball and ultimate frisbee as well as cheering on his favorite sports teams, especially his beloved Knights, the Tampa Bay Bucs and the Orlando Magic.
To know Jonathan was to know what it means to be loved. He had a huge heart and welcomed all people into his life with joy. He wanted the best for everyone and generously gave all he had to all he knew.
He was passionate about music both leading worship and song writing. In recent months he expressed this passion and also enjoyed the loving community of the Recovery Ministry at Summit Church in Fort Myers, Florida.
Jonathan was survived by his mother Lisa Turner, father Robert Turner (wife Kerri ), both of Fort Myers, Florida, his sister Kristen Turner of Fort Myers, Florida, his brother Ty Turner (wife Stacey) of Sarasota, Florida, brother Trey Turner (wife Kelsey) of Satellite Beach, Florida, his sister Grace Pearce (husband Roscoe) of Cape Coral, Florida, his brother Samuel Turner of Fort Myers, Florida, his sister Tori Childers (husband Daniel) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his sister Brooke Turner of Fort Myers, Florida, his sister Brycelyn Turner of Fort Myers, Florida, his maternal grandmother Virginia Petter Fleming of Sanibel, Florida, and his maternal grandfather Donald Fleming (wife Stephie) of Sarasota, Florida.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Anne Attaway Turner and his paternal grandfather Ben Ray Turner both of Macon, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life honoring Jonathan will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, November 5th at Summit Church, 19601 Ben Hill Griffin Parkway, Fort Myers, FL 33913.

I am so thankful that JJ knew the deep love of his precious family. Words fall short in the sorrow of your earthly pain. May we, in some small way, grieve with you to lessen your heartache, if but a moment. I rejoice with you that he is now with Jesus. May he ever rest in peace ❤️

I’m so sorry to hear of this loss. He sounds like an amazing young man who blessed all who knew him. Maybe the good memories always be close to your hearts. I’m a cousin to his father, his grandmother and my mother are siblings.

“Life is Not Measured by The Number of Breaths We Take, but by The Moments that Take Our Breath Away.” I can think of no better statement then this to express JJ’s Life and Legacy that he leaves. Every life he touched along his journey was inspired and challenged by him. Josiah and I just heard last night of your family’s loss. We wrap our loving arms around you all as you did to us. Prayers are lifted and love to you all ♥️♥️

JJ was one of the nicest guys I ever had the pleasure to be around. I can still remember what must’ve been 2012, my first gym class at Fort Myers High. I was a freshman and JJ was a sophomore, he felt like a best friend from the first time I met him and every time I was around him was full of laughs and smiles. JJ took away the intimidation factor of being a high-school freshman and I always looked forward to gym class and playing basketball with JJ. He was a true friend to anyone and one of the most genuine people I’ve ever met. I know he will truly be missed by many. Rest In Peace JJ

I went to FMHS with JJ. He invited to Next Level Church back in our Junior year. He played a key role in my relationship with God and I found community that I still hold close to this day because of his impact on my life. I am saddened of this news and his passing. We are all better for knowing him.

Lisa and Bob were some of our earliest friends when we moved to Fort Myers many years ago. They were neighbors and wonderful friends. Their children were sweet and delightful, and we tried to emulate so many of their parenting styles when we had our own children. Their love for their children was a beautiful thing to see. Losing precious Jonathan is a tragedy that I cannot even imagine. We send our most sincere condolences to Lisa, Bob, Kerri, Kristen, Ty, Trey, Gracie, Samuel, Tori, Brooke, Brycelyn and all their families.
