Eileen Duffy

Eileen Duffy

January 16, 1939~November 03, 2022

On November 3, 2022, Eileen Duffy, 83, of Pembroke Pines, went home to be with the Lord. She is survived by her beloved husband, Bill; her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Kevin Colquhoun; her grandsons, Jacob and Ryan Colquhoun and Ryan’s wife, Cristina; her sister, Lenore Hampson; and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Martha; and her sisters, Edna and Barbara.

Originally from Long Island, New York, Eileen had a career as a medical transcriptionist and then in donor relations for Trans World Radio, from where she retired in 2011 after 20 years.

Eileen’s faith was her primary identity and Bible verses were her second language. Once coming to know Jesus, she never looked back. Her and her husband faithfully sought the Lord together daily and were ardent prayer warriors for many. Daily, she sent scriptures to numerous people via text and encouraged others through her faithful walk with the Lord.

Eileen loved people with her whole being and she was equally adored by oh so many. Throughout her life, she earnestly invested her time in countless people, church ministries, and charities. Her genuine heart and kindness were always evident and she made everyone she met feel important and seen.

Eileen was the proud matriarch of her family and led with wisdom, strength, and an overabundance of love. Eileen’s husband, Bill, was her best friend and other half. For 55 years, the inseparable duo showed everyone what true love looks like and built a beautiful life together. A large part of that beautiful life revolved around her daughter, Sharon. They spent time together weekly, and barely a day went by without them talking to each other. If you ever met Eileen, you surely knew about her grandsons! Her grandsons, who affectionately called her “Mimi,” were her pride and joy and she was their biggest cheerleader.

The legacy that Eileen leaves behind can never be fully known on this side of heaven. Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Thursday, November 10th from 4:00 PM –6:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera located at 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines. The Memorial Service will begin at 4:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to some of Eileen’s favorite causes: Hope Women’s Centers, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, or Trans World Radio.

Our dear neighbor of almost 20 years, Eileen was the first person to greet us when we first moved into our house. A true friend, saw our kids grow up and we will miss her dearly.

Eileen,
Rest with Jesus. I’ll remember you each time I water the Christmas plant you gave me when you retired from TWR in Cary, NC.

God bless you, Eileen, in your journey heavenward! And God bless the family and keep them in peace! Years ago when I was going through a tough time, Eileen gave me some of the best hugs and encouragement, which I will never forget. I pray her genuine love she showed for the Lord and for others grows seeds and will prosper so that others may know Him, too. I’m sad to lose such a happy, genuine person, but she was a good and faithful servant, and her work is done. Hugs to the family.

I will miss my dear friend Eileen. What sweet memories of our time working together at TWR. She would always make me laugh. She was a friend to everyone and was so caring and thoughtful. Dave and I enjoyed the times we had together with Bill and Eileen. May the Lord comfort Bill, Sharon, Kevin, Ryan, Christina and Jacob, her family that she loved so dearly.

How my heart breaks for Bill and Sharon and all the extended family. But we know who and where she is, in the presence of her Lord and Saviour Jesus. We know the promises in 1 Samuel: that our loved ones cannot return to us, but we will go to them. You will be greatly missed not only by family but all the people you touched with your smile and love ❤️ praying for the peace and comfort that surpasses all understand for Bill and the family. Hugs and love to you all 🙏❤️
