So sad to hear this. I have known you since our Jr. High Days, maybe even elementary school. So glad that we reconnected with you reaching out to me via Classmates and then Facebook. It had been nice thru the years seeing you out and about with your job and running into you in the different stores. And we’d catch up. May you be resting now in God’s arms and sleeping with his angels. RIP Kathy. My condolences to your loved ones.

Life is so fragile yet so strong. I feel blessed to have known Ms. Kathy Riveira. God knows how special she was to me as well as to my family.
She was not only the Youth Group Leader when I was growing up but was also my Confirmation Teacher and boy did I drive crazy. I can tell so many stories about how I really pushed her buttons but she loved it all;
One time the Confirmation group was going to a retreat in Tampa so she got us a bus and she stressed to us all that if we were late she would leave us but guess who woke up late?! Me! 😂 I remember my phone ringing and as I answered she asked in a very stern tone, “Yomaira, where are you? I will leave you. You have 10mins to get here”. I did not get there in 10mins, she stopped the bus on Davie Rd, so that I could get on it and we could head to Tampa.” She never let me forget this! Every time she would see me, she would bring it up 😂
Other times, were when we had the Confirmation Classes and there was someone always stressing her out and getting kicked out. That would also include the drama that would go down between the group. All the forceful volunteer hours she would make us do; all the Holy Masses and Holy Hours she would make us attend.
I’ve done some reflections here and there thoughout my life and I am eternally grateful to her. I learned so much growing up around her and even as an adult having the opportunity to serve with her in the Church. She really was a special one, and like her, they are rarely made. She was one of a kind and what impressed me the most is that to me she always looked the same, not an age in her beautiful face, just the same Ms. Kathy I met when I was about 9 years old. I can confidently say that being in my 30s and seeing how I’ve grown in my faith is partly thanks to what Ms. Kathy did and how she impacted my life. We had our disagreements but we both knew there was a love and respect that could not be broken. I’m thankful to have had the opportunity to remind her multiple times of the fruit of her labor in my life. On a rare occasion, when we were at a retreat for leaders, I had the opportunity to wash her feet and all she could do was cry and give thanks to the Lord. She expressed that she rarely let anyone do that to her because she always preferred to do that to others instead.
It’s all the moments of her life intertwined with mine that I will cherish. I am certain that the Heavens are rejoicing with the arrival of her soul because she is up there giving orders, organizing stuff and make sure that all her kids here on earth are receiving abundant graces from her. She for sure will be having a little or rather long convo with God about each and every one of us because even though some stopped going to Church, she still remembered each one and prayed for their well being. She never stopped asking God for our protection.
I pray that for her boys, which were her world, that they may receive the peace that they need to continue on walking. May they always feel her close! Lastly, I thank them abundantly for letting us all enjoy her for so long 💕
May her soul rest in peace! See you in Heaven!

With great sadness I say goodbye, for now, my friend Kathy. I have so many beautiful memories with you at Boniface youth group. I will miss the message you send me every year for my birthday, funny- you never forgot since we share the same birthdate. I learned so much from you. All the work you have done for the Lord here, I am very sure you are getting paid in Heaven. May the Lord and Mary, our mother, love you as much we did. Pray for us amiga, now that you are with Jesus.

Your mission on earth has come to an end, but, for sure now that you are born into eternity you will for sure be sending your blessings to all….and all the angels sent by heaven including you that was once an angel on earth and now one up above will in one way or another still be actively touching more lives ……the same Ms. Kathy who touched so many lives on earth especially our youth! You will be missed but never forgotten. RIP
May the family find the strength they need in this time of sorrow.
