Ramón was a brother to me. We met in Second Grade and last saw each other in Cuba in 1961 in Santa Clara where he came to school everyday at HERMANOS MARISTAS, and in Varadero Beach in June /July of that same year.
In the US we did not reconnect till sept 2003. Since then, Ramon and I were able to reconnect with about 35 of our classmates/brothers. Ramon was very passionate and dedicated to these searches and quickly became the leader of this group. I spoke to Ramon at least twice per week. We even spoke if I was traveling on WhatsApp. He tracked airplanes, called me w news and searched all kind of things on his COMPUTERS!!!
Lourdes also became an integral parts of our calls and also became a good friend to my wife Martha.
Oh how I miss Ramon ! We usually did not have very deep conversations, our calls were fun calls, we talked about music (which I also love) made all kinds of CDs ,with fancy covers and all. He had all the equipment. We talked about bad or approaching weather, said lots of jokes, shared YouTube searches, made 3 way calls with other friends and researched all memories.
Descansa en Paz “Ramo” all of your friends are in shock even the ones in Cuba. A lot of people loved you!!!!

What I will remember is how much *fun* it was to be around him. He was a giving, generous person, He could interact with you on your level. (When a regular group of us went to lunch I knew I could tease him by threatening to feed him chicken.) I looked forward to the conversations, the advice, the “tech support”, the music CDs, and how the dogs were doing.
We are all going to miss him. Best wishes to the family and friends.

I met Ramon in 1998 at The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC), where we both worked. We became fast friends. Ramon was passionate about family, friends, his dogs and music. We always had lots of fun!!! We had pre-work meetings every work day and hashed out the problems. I could always count on Ramon for advice and to help me solve any IT issues that I was having with my computer. He used to make me music CDs that I still enjoy to this day.
We had a group of friends that we met every pay day Friday for lunch and we would air our grievances, laugh and joke and just have a great time. Most of the time we went to our favorite watering hole, Longhorn Steakhouse. A great time was always had by all. We will miss his unique sense of humor and his laughter.
Condolences to his family and friends.

I met Ramón through his wife, Lourdes, who is one of my best friends to date. His family was a prominent family in Ranchuelos, Cuba, and later on in Houston, and her family was very well known as well. Ramoncito, as we called him, was a very honest, and sincere man. Most of my communication with him was through email, as they moved from Houston in search of a better life. My memories encompass his collaboration with Maristanet, an online Santa Clara review which he not only helped editing, but also contributed to identifying many of its members because he had an extraordinary memory. His passion, aside from his family, were his dogs, countless of them, He used to share with me his sorrow upon losing them, and his happiness. upon adding a new one. His sincere personality gained him many good friends. Rest in peace my very dear Ramoncito. I will miss you immensely. You left us too early, but I’m sure that you are enjoying the presence of the Lord.

Oh! My!
There’s much to say about my dear friend. He was generous of heart, and always glad to share whatever he could. There wasn’t a time that, if I asked him for something, that he didn’t come through. He was proud of what he could do for you.
Ramon was a man of many talents. We shared a love of music, animals, photography, etc.
When we needed photographs for our branch, Ramon was our photographer. It was a great compliment to me when he admired some pictures I had taken.
His sense of humor was like none other. We could always count on him to have the sounding last word, that no one could top.
Ramon and I were the early arrivals in the branch. We would, daily, spend several minutes talking before it was time to start work.
Even though he and Lourdes moved away, we were still able to keep in touch.
My prayers are with you Lourdes & your family
I’ll miss you, Ramon.
