In loving memory of Maureen Johnson, a cherished member of the Davie community, who peacefully passed away on December 1st, 2023, at the age of 65.
Born on September 15th, 1958, in Chicago, Illinois, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late Bill and Jackie Mitchell. With a dedicated career spanning over 33 years, she imparted knowledge and inspiration to countless students at A.C. Perry Elementary School in Miramar, where she received a Teacher of the Year Award. Maureen’s passion extended beyond the classroom; she found joy in immersing herself in literature, solving jigsaw puzzles on her iPad, and sharing delightful meals with her dear friends.
Preceding her in death are her husband of 23 years, David Johnson, sister, Kathy Mitchell and brother, Pat Mitchell. Maureen is fondly remembered and survived by her sisters: Rita Parsons and her husband Tom, Lori Grabfelder and Janice Mitchell.
To celebrate Maureen’s life, a Memorial Gathering for family and friends will take place on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, from 9:30 am to 11:30 am at the Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care University Drive Chapel, located at 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. A Tributes of a Lifetime Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 am.

Maureen was a very dedicated pre-school teacher who loved her students as her own. She made learning fun for her students and taught them songs to help them grasp concepts.
I enjoyed working with Maureen and our classes would get together for special lessons or events.
Maureen is with her husband Dave now, who she loved with all her heart and missed him every day with his passing.
You will be missed , Maureen, it was my pleasure knowing and working with you.

Ms, Johnson,
Rest assured that your students will be able to “fly,” because you taught them all they needed to know to be the best they could be.

I enjoyed working with YoU. Your kindness, generosity, and unwavering support have made a significant impact. The mischievous leprechaun that graces us in March will never have as much fun with us as he had with YoU. As educators, we are committed to carrying forward and building upon the legacy you leave behind. I extend my deepest condolences to the family of “our” Ms. Johnson. May the cherished memories and the strength of our Lord bring comfort during this difficult time. My thoughts and prayers are with you Janice. XOXO, Jo Anna Molina

Maureen will be remembered as a dedicated Aunt to Jeffrey and a special sister to Anne and Jeff. I will remember her for her gift of writing as she so many times helped me with important letters and documents.
With Love,

To my dear aunt Maureen I am so glad you at peace I will miss you so much but I will remember the so many happy memories we had together and all the funny gifts you gave me. From puzzle boxes to a hole box of coffee samples you got me because you where so excited the I won a keurig coffee maker. The funniness and laughter we shared meant so much to me. And even when you where going though the worst fight of you life you found time for me. Even know you lost the fight to cancer I will be forever greatful for what you did for me and the time we shared I was so blessed to have you as a aunt may you forever be in god’s glory until we meet again
sincerely
