Mary Ellen (Michael) Andreoni, 93, was born in Chicago, IL on May 8, 1930, to Julius John Michael & ; Florence Daly Michael. She was a graduate of The Academy of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Mankato, MN and went on to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree from Florida International University in 1974. Mary later earned her Master of Science in Early Childhood Education in 1979. Mary was a vibrant and independent woman who was always an active member of her community. In her high school era, she relished in extracurriculars—known as a stand-out actress, basketball team captain and an all-star quoiter. The local newspaper claimed her as “Mary Michael, top- ranking score-boaster.” After obtaining her education, she took upon the honorable occupation of educating future generations as an elementary school teacher for many years in South Florida. In her retirement, Mary enjoyed daily walks, participating in chorus, and swimming laps in her community pool.
Mary was predeceased by her siblings Catherine Carlino, Nora Agosta, Henry Michael, Walter Michael, Paul Michael, and John Michael.
Mary is survived by her children Deborah Wishneff, Jeffrey Andreoni, Laura Fortino, Thomas Andreoni, and Michael Andreoni. She is also survived by her grandchildren Timothy Burke, Nicole Wishneff, Christopher Andreoni, Eric Andreoni, Cristina Gaitan, Jacqueline Andreoni, Morgan Andreoni and Kirsten Andreoni. She was a loving great grandmother to three: Olivia, James, and Tommy.
Mary passed peacefully on May 5, 2024. The viewing is open to the public at 11:30 am on May 10, 2024. A tribute and celebration of her life will begin at 12:30 pm at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care 1600 N. University Drive Pembroke Pines, FL 33024. Graveside Service will take place at 2:00 pm at Forest Lawn South Cemetery 2401 SW 64 th Ave Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33317. Flowers or donations to Vitas Community Connection in honor of Mary are deeply cherished by her family.
