John McCormack

John McCormack , age 89, of Hollywood, Florida, passed away June 25, 2024. He was born in Bronx, New York on April 30, 1935. He was a retired Senior Court Clerk of the N.Y.S. Supreme Court. John was a graduate of the N.Y. Institute of Criminology in 1957. During the 1960’s & 1970’s he was the Senior Identification Officer in charge of the Bronx Criminal & Supreme Court Identification Bureau, testifying in numerous Court cases on fingerprint identification. During the 1970’s he was the President of the N.Y.C. Criminal Court Identification Officers Association. For several years he was the guest lecturer of fingerprint technique and identification at the N.Y. Uniformed Court Officers Academy. In 1981 he was promoted to Senior Court Clerk, he was appointed the “Trial Court Clerk” to Hon. Ernst Rosenberger Presiding Justice of the “Special & Extraordinary Trial Part” at 60 Centre St. in the early 1980’s, retiring in 1990. During retirement he served for many years on the Board of Directors as Vice President or Treasurer of his condo association. He served as a US paratrooper during the Korean War and the Cold War from January 1953 to January 1956, he served most of his of duty with the 82nd Airborne Division. He served with the U.S. Army Reserve as Sgt. 11th Special Forces Group Airborne during 1976 & 1977. He was also a retired Chief Petty Officer of the USNR, he served several tours of duty with O.S.D. at the Pentagon. He was proud to have served his Country.

John isĀ  survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sonia McCormack; his daughter, Patricia McCormack; sister, Ethel Mahar and several nephews and nieces.

Graveside Services to be held on Monday, July 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth Florida 33449 with Military Honors being rendered by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. Please meet his family in Lane #3.

Services entrusted to Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.
