Leonilo V. Orocio, 80 years young, arrived at the heavenly gates on July 3, 2024, after nearly a year-long battle with colon cancer. Leonilo, known to most as Nilo, was born on May 31, 1944 in Capiz, Philippines to Emilio Sr. and Gertrudes Orocio.
A lifelong lover of sports, Nilo loved playing basketball as a child and watching all sorts of competition from boxing to gymnastics to tennis. His favorite teams to cheer on were the New York Yankees and the Miami Heat.
Nilo graduated from Feati University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and as the very first engineer to come out of Jamindan, Capiz. He would later go on to be a chief engineer with the National Power Corporation. Once he came stateside, he would work in the employ of the United States Postal Service and then Costco until his retirement.
Nilo is predeceased by his siblings, Aureliano, Porferia, Nieves and Emilio. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Aster, his siblings Juanita, Donte, and Victoriano, his children Jennifer, Emiljohn, Gerald, Tuscany, Jerome, Leonard, and Dawn, and his grandchildren Andreana, Irie, Dashielle, Nathan, Noah, Jayla, Maui, Sophie, Jalissa, Jayce, Nicole, Gianna, and Raven. Nilo was preceded in death by his parents, Emilio Sr. and Gertrudes Orocio, and his siblings, Emilio Orocio, Jr. and Nieves de la Torre.
The family is receiving friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 4-6PM, at Boyd Panciera Family Funeral Care: 1600 N. University Drive, Pembroke Pines, FL 33024, with a prayer service beginning at 5PM.
