Raymond Andrew Lantz, Sr age 90 has passed away after a life well lived. He was a kind, hardworking and generous man born during the Great Depression in Ojus, Florida. After a period of declining health, he passed away in Pembroke Pines, Florida on January 30, 2025.
Raymond loved to talk as much as he loved to listen and did what he could to help people. Because of this he meant so much to so many. He prided himself on family, community, and hard work. He loved his family very much and happily took on the roles of son, brother, husband, father, uncle, and grandfather. He loved his community almost as much as he loved his family and was elected the honorary Mayor of Ojus hosting an annual picnic for family and friends from Ojus at Greynolds Park for many years. Through and through he was a Floridian enjoying his catfish, a good barbecue, and swamp cabbage. Some of his other activities while his children were growing up were participating in Kiwanis, VFW, motor sports, fishing, and church. From his first job feeding the chickens, to his last job as a consultant for API Marine Service he always did his best.
After graduating from Miami Tech High School when he was 17 years old, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Comstock as an Electrician during the Korean War. Then, after receiving an honorable discharge from the Navy he opened Lantz Electric Service which he operated for over 50 years serving much of the community with great integrity. Thus, he was elected President of the Independent Garage Owners representing the Garage Owners of his Community. He also served on the Citizens Advisory Board for his community. When he sold his business and retired, he found that retirement did not agree with him, so he went back to work for API Marine training the next generation in motor building and repair. He finally took full retirement in 2018 and spent the last years of his life enjoying nature from his porch, going on walks and playing cards while always taking the time to check-in with family.
Raymond is survived by his daughters Caroline and Jana, grandsons Robert and Raymond III, and stepson David. As well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Freya and Deanna, son Raymond II, siblings Charles, Edna, and Esther, nephew James and many friends.
While his earthbound family and friends will miss him greatly, we wish him well as he is reunited with family and friends who have gone before him. Join us in celebrating the remarkable life of our cherished loved one in your own way, as no formal service will be held at his request.

I remember Uncle Raymond getting out of the Navy and driving that red convertible as well as lots of other neat cars. Cool was Uncle Raymond and generator service was his passion. He lived his life to its fullest.
