Richard Fred Ness Jr., 71, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away on July 27, 2025. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on March 6, 1954, Richard lived a life defined by service, adventure, generosity, and quiet strength.
He proudly served in the United States Marine Corps for six years before pursuing his passion for flying. Richard went on to enjoy a long and accomplished career as a pilot, flying for 27 years until his retirement. He loved to travel, explore new places, and was always ready to lend a helping hand. His resilience and steadfast nature made him an anchor to those who knew and loved him.
Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Mercedes Ness, and his children: Janell Costilla, Jessica Brown, and Richard Fred Ness III. He also leaves behind his stepchildren: Gertrude Taveras, Juan Rodriguez, Kelly Lopez, and Kevin Rodriguez, as well as his many cherished grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving siblings: Carol Joy Nicolosi, James Ness, Mary Ness-Bross, and Joyce Biring.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Fred Ness and Mary Louise Lange.
A visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, August 1st, from 6:30 PM to 10:30 PM with Tributes of Lifetime Service starting at 7:30 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, 1600 N University Dr, Pembroke Pines, FL. Burial will take place the following morning, Saturday, August 2nd, at 11:00 AM, at Vista Memorial Gardens, 14200 NW 57th Ave, Miami Lakes, FL 33014.
Guests are kindly asked to wear black attire.
Richard will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered for his generous heart, adventurous spirit, unwavering strength, and the deep love he had for his family.
