Jose Raul Perez, a loving father, devoted grandfather, and fiercely competitive spirit, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2025, in Hollywood, Florida. He was 73.

Born on October 11, 1952, in Holguín, Cuba, Jose fled communism in the late 1960s to settle in Miami, Florida, where he built a life defined by hard work and devotion to family.

A true competitor, Jose enjoyed playing basketball in his early years. His greatest passion was his love for sports, something he enjoyed with his sons for many years. He was an excellent dominos player and found joy in every challenge. He also loved fishing, an activity he often shared with his grandchildren, and found comfort listening to the gentle sounds of the guitar.

Jose retired after a rewarding career as a Convention Manager for the Sonesta Beach Hotel, dedicating his later years to enjoying his family.

He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ofelia Cespedes and Jose Raul Perez, Sr., and his brother, Jesus Reinaldo Perez.

Jose’s memory will be cherished by his family, including his brothers Manuel Ramon Perez and Jose R. Perez. He is survived by the mothers of his children, Alina Perez and Evita Dzilna Perez. His legacy lives on through his three children: Jose R. Perez and Anibal Perez (sons with Alina Perez), and his youngest son, Robert Perez (son with Evita Perez). He was a proud and doting grandfather to five grandchildren: Ella Perez, Leah Perez, Gabriel Perez, Riley Perez, and Myles Perez. His warmth and determination will live on through all of them.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be directed to the fund established for Evita and Robert’s future. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM with a Tributes of a Lifetime Service at 7:00 PM at Boyd-Panciera Family Funeral Care, University Drive Chapel.
